The hell are you saying man.Like what kind of SOF “ops”? The biggest threat is conventional, and elite infantry is needed as pure killers in order to destroy the enemy.
Also, destroying the enemies of india when you are getting closer to the biggest rule enforcer of the world (US), is unrealistic.
Casualties from proxy war are just the physical aspect of loss and gain matrix. Temerity of a much smaller State to wage proxy war against a large State; time and again and with impunity, dents the national pride, which is though intangible but utterly humiliating. Isn’t proxy war a combat situation, which should merit employment of SF?
Over the years our counter-terrorist strategy has become stereotyped. Like a slogging match, its gains are no longer out of proportion. Pakistan trains and sends the terrorists - the foot soldiers of Pakistan’s proxy war. Some get killed while infiltrating across the Line of Control (LoC) and those who manage to sneak in are neutralised in counter- terror operations in the hinterland. It is a vicious cycle. Come summer, many terrorist training camps and launch pads located along the LoC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) start feeding the supply of terrorists. With the fountainhead of terrorism remaining intact in PoK and Pakistan, neutralising infiltrating terrorists is akin to treating the symptoms and ignoring the bigger malaise.
