Like what kind of SOF “ops”? The biggest threat is conventional, and elite infantry is needed as pure killers in order to destroy the enemy.

Also, destroying the enemies of india when you are getting closer to the biggest rule enforcer of the world (US), is unrealistic.
The hell are you saying man.
Casualties from proxy war are just the physical aspect of loss and gain matrix. Temerity of a much smaller State to wage proxy war against a large State; time and again and with impunity, dents the national pride, which is though intangible but utterly humiliating. Isn’t proxy war a combat situation, which should merit employment of SF?

Over the years our counter-terrorist strategy has become stereotyped. Like a slogging match, its gains are no longer out of proportion. Pakistan trains and sends the terrorists - the foot soldiers of Pakistan’s proxy war. Some get killed while infiltrating across the Line of Control (LoC) and those who manage to sneak in are neutralised in counter- terror operations in the hinterland. It is a vicious cycle. Come summer, many terrorist training camps and launch pads located along the LoC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) start feeding the supply of terrorists. With the fountainhead of terrorism remaining intact in PoK and Pakistan, neutralising infiltrating terrorists is akin to treating the symptoms and ignoring the bigger malaise.

If whole infantry battalions can be converted to SF why not make Para battalions into SF.

When you sit and see you will realise that maybe we dont have smart people.

We may have Rambos and Marvel heroes...

(other day i was watching on Youtube my Favourite Major say that we will go into another realm and kill you)..

But not smart planners and executioners.

A country with no paratroopers but a division strength of SF is not a serious country and is not planning to win any wars.
True that

Infact, from the same book "Relentless Strike" that i mentioned previously. Here's how Airborne and SF win wars together.

"If Delta provided Task Force 20’s rapier, the Ranger Regiment and 82nd Airborne Division provided its muscle. The Rangers were there in force because Dailey was planning the command’s pièce de résistance, an airborne seizure of Baghdad airport—a classic joint readiness-exercise-style mission for which the task force had conducted large-scale rehearsals at Forts Benning and Bragg prior to deployment. For JSOC’s other assigned mission—hunting for Iraq’s fabled weapons of mass destruction—Dailey’s preferred option was to keep his force at Arar and launch heliborne raids from there."

"While Delta was also told to do direct action missions. They had other ideas. That of the classic "Develop the situation". Delta would be along with 5th SFG Green Beret the first boots on the ground linking up with partner forces, they trained earlier during peacetime and conducting reconnaissance ahead of invasion. Every next move by the conventional military was made certain by Delta's efforts of ensuring nothing remains in path to slow the airborne and rangers."

Now this has significantly decreased throughout the years and the biggest threat is indeed a two front invasion as of right now.

@Kumaoni please read this carefully. Even more so in case of a two front situation we need this. Remember US was putting troops to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time. Iraq war was full time conventional and so was Afghanistan: It was called "War on terrorism" for a reason. In that case you need SF capability. See what we ourselves did in 1971 Liberation of Bangladesh....SFF and Navy Divers trained Mukti Bahini and did covert naval and land operations. We did only a few great commando operations by 9 and 10. On the conventional scale, the Tangail paradrop was a game changer. So understand this punk! - SF are meant to do few raids and mostly train guerilla groups. SFF wont be fighting on Pakistan front in case of Two front war. So we need Army SF to train and fight with Balochs, Navy can do that too. We would also require deep reconnaissance and surveillance by SF to achieve results while the airborne would be the main raiding party.

Well tbf back then we had a proper distinction between SF and Paratrooper

I dont think we are doing too much of those kind of ops with SF personnel.

Recent Isi agent killing by RAW(suspected) in Nepal... operator doesnt look military from the video

I was told by a ex Raw guy that mostly CAPF guys are used in these low scale ops.

We dont do much high scale ops.
If that op is done by IB then it could be men from CAPF.
