Russian kord 12.7mm heavy machine gun.It can be carried by a two man team and can target enemy infantry, bunkers, lightly armoured vehicles, low flying helicopters etc.It can also be fired by a muscular guy in standing position like an assault rifle. It could be a very good weapon for our special forces and would give them terminator style firepower.

2010 - Kord 12.7 mm Machine Gun - HD - High Definition Trailer - YouTube
We could hire porters of BMS or CITU for carrying the mammoth weapon :p

In Indian Army there is no concept for HMG, AGL is used instead..

Only few years back there was RFI launched for HMG for troops but no news afterwards..

This is disturbing, but then if we still stick to old Bren for LMG role then anything is possible.

Indian army infantry needs serious overhaul and that does not mean expensive guns decent LMG,Assault Rifle and this could come at cheap prices.

Kunal Da if there is no concept of HMG (heavy Machine Gun, I presume) in Indian Army then what are M2 Browning ,, NSV machine gun, and KVP heavy Machine guns used for? Once I checked wiki I found Indian Army not only uses these but also manufactures KVPs and NSVs in Ordinance factory Tiruchirapalli.

0.50 cal or 12.7mm are Heavy Machine Guns used on Armoured vehicles or in companies useful against lightly armoured vehicles,Troops etc.

Pakistanis must have some Chinese HMG and M2 Browning.

However it is surprising that Indian army does not consider inducting these weapons at company levels inspite OFB license manufacturing of the NSV (utes) HMG.

Note that such HMG have proven there effectiveness for example during the soviet-afghan war the battle for Hill 3234 it was the NSV (utes) machine gunner that kept the enemy at bay during initial attack.

Indian defence acquisition sometimes leaves me perplex we ponder over acquisition of flashy multi caliber rifles but cannot afford to give decent weapons.

A simple Assault rifle AK-100 series, a decent SAW weapon like Pecheneg or M-249 and a HMG like Kord will definitely augment infantry firepower, but no here we go for white elephants.

Bren is classic and very effective LMG, Coz its a light and we even use it while charging..

We prefer light, MG-3 is good on vehicle or on tripods in defensive positions but not in hand of foot Infantry who needs light ..

Beside MG-3 is a long, Ammo hungry heavy weight so call LMG, Perhaps a GPMG not LMG..

@Kunal I also like the AK-47 but then one needs to acknowledge that a product is getting outdated and we need to upgrade accordingly. If am not mistaken Pakistan uses MG-3
