This is written by Shivam Tiwari, sir. He hypes the SOFs up quite a bit. Here's his blog.

He's a pretty chill guy all around but exaggerates some things. His latest post is worth reading though.

10 heads for an eye – Operation Apache

Date: July 7, 2019Author: Shivam 18 Comments
This is the story of India’s response to an inhuman act, this story is here to make people aware about that anyone who will try to disturb the peace of this nation will pay the price they will never forget. This operation was never made public because whatever the 9th Battalion of Parachute Regiment also known as 9 Para SF did will leave you with answers to many questions.

Year 2001

Bakarwal is a peaceful community who spend their life shepherding and goatherding, they are mainly based at Pir Panjal and Himalayan mountain ranges. These people are also known as Gujjars of Kashmir.

In 2001 the insurgency was at its peak and so does the counter insurgency operations of Indian Army. Intrusions and elimination of intruders became a common thing for army. Attempts after attempts were bitting dust because the Indian Army was too vigile to be defeated. That’s where Pakistanis did what they do after every defeat they either kill innocents or attack from back. This time they crossed the , they were continuously intruding a sector close to LOC, were killing the Bakarwals, beheading them and stealing their animals. The Gujjars reached army for the help and 9 Para got the opportunity to avenge the attacks. The CO of 9 himself took charge to teach pakis a good and an unforgettable lesson.

Operation Apache was a company level operation of 9 Para SF started from a LOC hugging sector. It is believed that the operation was so secret that even the government doesn’t know about it. The operation was special and so critical that the CO of battalion of that time was leading the operation. This was one of the major operation to restore peace for the farlanders of Kashmir.

19 November 2001

Operation Apache begins, in pitch dark night around 70 men of 9 Para SF crossed the LC. The target was intentionally choosed to be an area which is just a kilometer away from one of the biggest brigade of Pakistani Army. 9 Para surprised the bastards and by mere presence of that size of force pakis pissed and shit in their pants. Lt. A and Lt. N just cleared the life soaking probation and now they are witnessing why 9 is taken by enemy on high regards. Pakistanis recognized 9 by the very first sight. 9 confirm the identity of enemy and the masaccare begun. This time the mountain rats showed up on their faces and started picking heads one by one, no one was spared and it was happening just around the corner of Pakistani brigade.

In between the operation a 6 feet 4 inch pakistani pathan soldier tried to kill an operative by stabbing him in the back but he was silenced within a second. The operative still got some injury but retreat wasn’t an option that night, he was treated right there by medics and the operation stayed on, with the level of blood spilled that night 9 sent a clear message to the neighbors that there are people on the opposite side of the border who knows how to keep warm relations with neighbors.

Maj Gen Bakshi was the one who authorized this I think ? He has spoken about it but not specifically about the special op though.

Unfortunately we lost a good shooter
Rifleman Arif Pathan was a highly trained Sniper who specialized in shooting targets with modified rifles from incredibly long distances. During his tenure at LOC, enemy suffered lot of casualties. Today Rifleman Arif would have turned 25 today.

Any idea about the circumstances related to his martyrdom? Counter sniping ops?

Hey, a question? Are guns sensitive to OpSec? There's an old gun I came to know was used by SG roughly a decade back in an op which I haven't heard of any military unit in India using,.

RIP Shaheed . People like you are a constant reminder to people like us that there is still hope. We can be one hell of a society. Best of best.

That's not even a real person.....
Pretty much the same gear as shown is used by DEVGRU.
Now, I'm yet to hear or see pictures of a ST6 operative, but tier one units of the west are almost the same (in terms of gear) so here I present to you a fallen hero of DGSE's (exterior intelligence unit of France) Service Action member (Their equivalent of SG/SAD)-

Result of a hostage rescue gone wrong. More here-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulo_Marer_hostage_rescue_attempt

I don't get the popularity of MP7 among western SOFs. It's not like it's calibre is so common or anything. Any particular reason? Is it really so "top-of-the-line"?

Also, what NVG is that?
I'd love to hear a breakdown of all that you see, @Gessler sir. If you can find the time, of course. :)

It's the 4.6x30 armour piercing bullet. Gives you the ease and compactness (accuracy / recoil) of an MP5 but with way more punching power and range.

Forces use this kind of weapon in hostage rescue operations to ensure adequate BPJ penetration to kill the hostage taker and still does not over penetrates and end up going through him and hit the hostage.

MP7 has two major attributes in its favour. The first is the round as mentioned by several others, lighter than 5.56 but more punch than the 9mm.

Second is because its a good gun to suppress. When suppressed, its far far quieter than any other regularly used automatic firearm like HK416.

Here's a snap from No Easy Day, the book written by Matt Bissonnette (under pen-name Mark Owen), one of the ST6 members of OBL raid:

mp72.JPG

As of the NVG, it seems to be a monocular PVS-14, judging by the rubber eyecup in the 1st pic, but I'm not a 100% sure -

As of pics of ST6 operators themselves, there are dozens available on the net, you just need to know where to look...

Also, do remember that every rendition worth its pennies made of Tier-1 SOFs (whether SEALs, Delta or otherwise) is not pulled by fanboys out of their arse, its based on the descriptions & directions provided by ex-Tier 1 members who since retire and take up 'consultant' gigs with media enterprises like movies, games, books etc.

Tyler Grey & Larry Vickers (both ex-Delta) are two prime examples.

That makes a lot of sense now!
Overpenetration or round going through can impact the wall behind the target as well and all suppression is naught when that happens, not to mention that the French were using it in hostage rescue too.
Ah!
HERE COMES THE TACTICAL ORGASM!

Also, would prefer some tidbits on what else you see. See something interesting or something you think is not commonly known here?
Let it loose. :p

Personal customisation of weapons especially that of trigger ❤. Dont think we will ever experience it here atleast for the next decade.

Do read the edited post.

As of tidbits...there's nothing much to say except in the 2nd pic you can see magazines for AR-15s and G36 but MP7s and Glocks are the only weapons displayed. That's odd.

Maybe the guns were taken away by their comrades or the jihadis.
G36s are used by GCP/GCM/SAED in French military (Basically SOFs but under brigade command) so it's only natural. Also, thanks for that. I do read up on Shadowspear quite a bit, but I figured the Jihadis wouldn't be as picky in their censorship so we might just see something new, but nyet. :(
