These are SFF guys..aka the other team. @abingdonboy

The third guy is the team leader for sure.(the last pic)

Behind him the operator is wearing a camo which was earlier worn by SFF in late 80s or early 90s.

The second guy is wearing a camo i have never seen in india.

but most of them are wearing hiking shoes...very unlike paras... very likely sff.

This stuff is very popular from the towns where tibetians reside in india.
Not necessary. In para and SF units there is no standard uniform for operations unless it's something official. They are free to wear what ever they feel comfortable. They use shoes ranging from wild craft to Columbia according to their requirement and comfort.

The role is similar.Theres hardly and difference in the ops of SFF and Para SF.
You meant the entire vikas or just archers and 22 SF. Because according to my sources rest of vikas units are just airborne forces with a mandate shadowing green beret of USSF not their training and equipment. Would love to know more.

Green Berets are Special Forces, equalent of Para SF. You must have mistaken them for either Rangers or 82/101 airborne.

Who provides the choppers and planes for SFF and SG? Army aviation wing or IAF? Or does they have dedicated wing?
Does Para SF have dedicated choppers attached to their bases in Kashmir and NE or do they rely on army aviation wing on need basis ie choppers are not statione in the SF bases?

That was a sarcastic reply for saying that the Generals dont take much interest in SF. For them they are super soldiers aka super canon fodder ... for example kargil.

Higher command's beliefs in a nutshell.

I remember reading an article about 84 Khalistan insurgency and how IB officers were laughed off when 1st Para was in the staging area prepping for the tragic operation.

General, as is quoted, said "Ye mere bhoot dekh rahe ho?"
They believed the Khalistanis would give up on just seeing the Para SF and sent them in all Blacks on white marble building lit by the moonlight against a motivated enemy who was ready for the assault.

IB officer who was familiar with the scenario tried his best to explain not to do so as he knew the Khalistanis wouldn't surrender but the generals wouldn't have it.
Took a sacrifice of hundreds of other potentially better future generals on their altar of ego for them to understand that a different strategy was needed.

I believe the Aviation Research Center does that. Its the aviation wing of RAW.

What I meant was one very important and perhaps primary role of green beret of dropping behind enemy lines and recruiting and training local disgruntled people to create an insurgency. And in that manner our vikas was modeled after them and I believe some of earlier trainers were from green berets. But as vikas expended it became very expensive to maintain that elite special force nature while maintaining their behind enemy lines capabilities similar to green beret but at the same time they in their training and equipment were confined to an airborne Infantry role but they still maintain a special force element in form of archers. I would keep SG somewhat separate from them as they have a complete different mandate.

Your feelings are echoed in our SF units but our generals and politicians have a rather simplistic understanding of special forces and they tend to equate them with commandos and they end up diluting their potential. Really sad state of affairs.

Could anyone give info about the SF unit working under DIA or Defence Intel Agency. One of my friends cousin for short term was attached to this unit. He had once shared the pics of him holding M4 uzi etc and told the name of the unit was 21 IB Nazik SF. For the first time i was hearing that name and my friend had little knowledge about SF plus his cousin was too busy with his training and also had confidential obligations. So if anyone knew please do elaborate.

These are short term detachments for Specific ops whose duration can run from 3mth to a year. Military Intelligence also has a similar structure. Its not a permanent unit.

Google 3CISU - 21 SF cadre were attached to it during the Scandal.

Please take down your post or edit out the name of the unit - even it its not official. DIA/MI units are to be handled with the hightest highest of opsec. IF someone told you about it he should be fired right away or he was fibbing.

Either way dont post on open fora's keep for personal consumption only. Please i request you. OPSEC from our forces has become a shitshow in the instagram age

Very likely. If you notice their trousers/cargos , you'll find there are different types of camouflage patterns -

1. Old air force / garud camo
2. Regular camouflage of army / RR
3. Digital or solid colour camo of Marcos
2 new patterns too.

That indicates they may have been commissioned from different SF units. Only similarity among them is the high-cut helmet.

Your theory has solid backing as well.

Look at this picture from a recent AFSOD exercise. You can see three service uniforms.
