That is exactly what I have said.

I distinguished the nature of operation in my previous post. And when the need comes they may remove the gear before actually going for hunt. This is why a lot of the time you would notice Para SF with just a head scarf.
I think if you'd check, the gear that Bhumihar was talking about was not combat load or BPJ's but basic protection for the joints, eyes, ears, hands etc, hence my statements regarding the whole freedom of mobility issue.

Kneepads, watches and googles normally what govt provides, they don't like it. They earn good that they can get their own.

Afghan SFs are quite highly regarded by their Western trainers, the ANA on the whole though is pretty pathetic agreed.
I am curious about the Afghan SFs. Can you tell more about some of their operations that they've carried out, I mean that could help understand the high regard that their trainers have for them.

To clarify - US/Allied SOF have a relative positivity regarding Afghan SF. Relative meaning in relation to rest of the Afghan Security Forces. Loyalty/Betrayal/ Clan politics still mars them. Are they competent, half way there. Competency is a culture. takes a while to build in. Today US and Afghan Forces are doing alot of missions side by side but ops are still planned and executed by the Americans. Previously the Afghans would provide Security only and the Americans would do the heavy lifting. Hopefully they transition to where the full C&C is given to the Afghans with the Americans playing Observers.

NSG teams from the Kolkata hub drill at a school in the city

This drill included teams of the US Army Special Forces (Green Berets) who have been in Kolkata training with NSG and Army SF for over a month now in counter terror operations as part of “Exercise Tarkash”

This was the first time most of the US Army SF team had trained in a metro network whilst this is the NSG’s bread and butter and there isn’t a metro in India that NSG haven’t mapped or drilled at. US are keen to carry out more regular drills like this as their elite forces are now focusing more on internal security but have only limited access to urban training back home.

In the past US SF have only trained with Delhi based NSG teams but now they are training with teams in the hubs across the nation.

Any info about weight?

No idea.
But if TATA is adhering to the IA tender then I'm guessing the HAP weighs around 3-5kgs.
Either way the whole bpj cannot be more than 10-11 kgs.

^^ Goodluck on the part of the soldier. Cant make out where he got hit but looks like a full body shot.

As an observation. American/Western body armour is usually smaller than what we require/wear. it only covers the chest cavity but not the stomach and lower abdoman - another factor in them being lighter. Very rare to see full body armour on American troops.

The TATA plate looks like its a full chest plate.

The shot seemed a centre of mass shot , given how the soldier fell down instantly. And definitely a full rifle calibre shot, a 7.62x54R or a 7.62x51 would have the requisite KE.

As regards US body armour, they seem to have a wide range of armour available as per tasking, but standard US issue armour is the Interceptor which is certainly full upper body and much heavier than anything we use.

Under equipped how? Please elaborate.
they were in a freakin land cruiser, without a back up. Not even a Humvee. An A10 warthog would have made mince meet of those ISIS bastards. Also i think all SF ops needs to have a UAV back up atleast when ur not trying to blend in.
