BTW we have every bit of equipment except the integrated kneepad/elbowpad suit.
Look i wont criticise anyone but we can definitely do a lot of work.

I may be wrong but with 10 less t90 tanks we can do and use that money to upgrade SF.

1 T90 is 4.5 million

So around 45 million dollars ie 300 crore approx we could equip a lot of Para units with good equipment.

With the kind of ops the Army undertakes its not a smart move to not put back money in developing assests.

Who is fighting the ongoing conflict..T90s or Para/Garud/Marcos/RR/Inf/sog?

P.S -T90s are also important but i am talking about priority.

Afghan commandos are more suited to exercises in Leh and Ladakh which is also a cold desert or HAWS and if possible with SF school in Nahan. But they are not found anywhere.
Regarding Afghan commandos I agree. They could benefit from an exercise in Leh. I believe US SFs participated in some joint excercises with our SFs in Leh and also for high altitude CI ops, this was around the beginning of the Afghan war or terror.

Similarly,SL commandos could learn a lot from SF school in Nahan and the CBS school in Kashmir about CI and CT ops but they are nowhere there.
Like I said, SL commandos are likely to have their entire operational experience in tropical and probably hilly jungles, so CIJWS makes sense for them. Of course Nahan would help as well, but what would help them the most is shared experiences on operating in a tropical jungle environment.

Bro considering the size of SPG and the upgrades they have already done in the last 2 decades they dont compare with NSG and Para.
Same goes with SPG.State of the art weapons, radios, equipment and to add to that facilities for families.A volvo ac bus for just office and coming back.World class gym and other infrastructure.

Won't crib about SPG, they deserve all they get and wish all elite units got the same.

And when it comes to upgrading Parliament security with state of the art equipment it doesnt take long for an approval but when it comes to Army bases security the approval is given after some soldiers are killed.
To be fair, Parliament attack is what prompted update to security there, MoD babudom and services themselves are responsible for the lack of upgrades to base security even to this day.
And if rumours are to be believed except Delhi base no other base is at par with the SAG and infact much behind it.The only hope is that some SAG guys go on deputation elsewhere regularly but the majority are still under equipped.
I think the CTTF and Delhi based 51/52 SAG teams alone get the top-end gear, the stuff the hubs get seems to be well below that and SRG even worse. But funds aren't the only issue, as I said NSG is getting huge increases in budget but the force is just too bloody big, same issue as with IA in general. They need to be trimmed down massively, SRG should be abolished entirely (except for a few dozen for support roles) so that the budget per operator can go above $25k (this is top tier NATO SF standard).

NSG

US Special Forces w/t NSG

CRPF CoBRA

MARCOS

PARA SF

Helmet Patterns In Use
Sorry other than FAST and modular BPJ I don't see much difference.
Seriously?

Plate carrier
Comms
Optics
NODs (HUGE issue for Indian SOFs, easily 25 years behind Western units here)
Accesories
Even uniforms FFS

NSG is the best India has got but they are easily over a decade behind the very top teams they are modelled on and train with.

GSG9:

GIGN:

SAS CT:

Are we looking at the same thing? Where is the comparison?

All that fancy equipment does not seem to have done much for the capabilities of the Afghan security forces..

Must be one of the most underwhelming armies out there. Najeebullah's soldiers equipped with antiquated Soviet equipment were far far more accomplished than this lot.

Afghan SFs are quite highly regarded by their Western trainers, the ANA on the whole though is pretty pathetic agreed.

The problem is that none of our Individual Theater Commands (army or airforce) have a unified procurement policy. Each one floats its own tenders and requests for equipment and when units from various commands merge we get a mess. And also then the equipment is so substandard that soldiers end up going on Amazon to buy their own essential kit.

Example - A south based unit is not equipped with winter gear when getting deployed to Kashmir.

EVERY soldier in the Army should get 4 Pieces of Kit - Urban, Jungle, Mountain (including gear for deployment to Siachen), Desert.

also - Even if we manage to pull off this standardization i have full faith that every unit will have mismartched helmets or the Helmets will come in a nice shinny Green paint or will have an ill fitting condom on top

For fucks sake at least we should provide decent goggles, watch, gloves and knee pads to our soldiers.
Why is there so much incompetence in gear procurement I don't understand.
