These boots are quickly becoming a Special Operations favorite simply because they provide such a unique balance of light weight, breathable materials and yet still retain the sturdiness of a reinforced Vibram sole. They fit pretty true to size (I am a 12) and feel like a glove on your feet; just how a proper boot should feel. They have survived (along with myself!) countless missions and have performed admirably in both the wet and cold seasons of late January to mid February and are still rocking out everyday in the midst of the intense summer heat of May. They leave my feet feeling great and I have had no complaints from any of my team mates who sport them as well. One question that may arise with these boots however would be which type would be best suited for an individual seeking to own a pair and the answer is that they are both equally well suited. For those living in the desert southwest who might want a more breathable boot, I would suggest the Ventilators. For someone who is mostly exposed to cold and wet conditions, I would go with the waterproof pair. For me and my teammates however, we selected the waterproof pair based solely upon the unpredictability of both the terrain and weather we might be in at any point in time while running missions in Afghanistan. We value having the waterproof capabilities, which for a weatherproof boot not only actually help to seriously repel water but are also still surprisingly breathable.

So guys i ordered the Surgical strike book which is recently released and managed to finish the first chapter which was about surgical strike in POK.

The book is written in a pretty simple language with a simple narration of the event. There is very less we dont know about that is written in the book.

One incident which i would like to share with you guys is that when one of our team was coming back at 04:30 hours the enemy snipers were tasked to target them.Their bullets were going very close to the team commander and whistling past his ears.

They managed to evade and return to the forward bunkers and waited there for 1.5 hours till their helicopter came to take the team leader Mike Tango to Srinagar. But the game was not over.

In spite of the helipad being on the leeward side where the Pakis has no direct access the sniper had somehow managed to get in the range

As the helicopter came Major Mike Tango went towards the helicopter and was also followed by a dog(non army).Just a few steps before he was about to board the enemy sniper tried to target Mike Tango but his bullets only found the poor dog.

Regarding the device we were talking about the writer did not mention its name but said its a satellite based touch screen device in which all types of data can be uploaded and downloaded.

I had very high expectations with the book but at least first chapter was not very informative. I felt the book "mission overseas" narrates the story of soldiers valour and real picture of what they go thru in much better way. I recommend u read that as well.

Also, the book inspite of giving the name Make Tango to the officer made it pretty clear by the half blurred pics as to who he is.Everyone has access to youtube these days.

Recently I fired Tavor assault rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm cartridge with a selective fire system. Somehow I still would bet on an AK47.

Reg previous conversation on SF unit structure.

In this interview Brig Shekhawat refers to it at 4m or so:

https://www.ndtv.com/video/news/the...style-friends-remember-colonel-santosh-391359

The organisation is

Squad -> Troop -> Assault Team -> Battalion

I am guessing the equivalent to regular infantry battalions is:

Section -> Platoon -> Company -> Battalion

Section is 10 men, while Squad is 6. This difference at the smallest team explains why SF battalions are only half the size of an infantry battalion.

Look the basics of a infantry battalion ie 100-120 men lead by a Capt or Major cannot be changed and can only be given a different name. And that is what it is here for operational purposes i think.

Squad Commander, troop commander and team commander is how he mentioned it.

Squad is 6 men like you said.Troop Commander maybe has few Squads under him and Team Commander even more.

Like i think Major Mike Tango would be the Troop Commander and a Junior Officer or a JCO/Subeidar rank could be the Squad commander and the Colonel would be the Team Commander.

Just an educated guess as i know for a fact that squad is lead by a JCO/Subeidar.

In the Infantry it is like Platoon,Section and Company. But there are not too many officers involved at lower levels like the SF!(who deploy lesser troops with more higher ranks)

I think Para SF officers have a liking of M4 over Tavor.I read about both the surgical strikes and both the officers were carrying M4.I thought M4 would be preferred only in urban warfare but i was wrong.

Interesting ! Top Notch SF units in US & Europe, always prefer AR15 based platforms very similar to M4. HK416 is a very popular choice and it's nothing but a Piston driven evolution of M4 (There are others like Daniel Defence MK18, Colt Canada C8 all basically M4s...etc )

I thought our top Indian SFs( PARA, Garuds, Marcos), preferred Tavor, but it seems otherwise....
