Good looking ship. I know it has been said before on this thread but surely the recent experience of the US with the war in Israel shows why we need we need more VLS cells. 32 SAMs is not enough if you are operating close to land and face drone swarms or a large number of cheap missiles.

Does the Project 18 class have more firepower, like for it's tonnage/size or in comparison to peer ships from other navies?
I know it's in design phase and all, but nibbiars here seem to have very esoteric information available 👀

We don't, and large no.of VLS is useless against drone swarms or a large number of cheap missiles, better to avoid such situation or consider building air defense ship with extremely powerful radar + multiple sensors.

Japan has just shown the way - small calibre rail guns and DEWs are the only solution to saturation attacks.

Anyone have any confirmation of the IN’s plans for the Indra 3D radars?
is it confirmed they’ll be on the P17As and are earmarked to replace the LW-08s on the P15As (and Bs?) the P15Bs are being built as we speak yet delivered with the LW-08s at the same time as Indra are delivering these to the IN in 2023

Apparently there’s a contract for 23 of the things?

Only after election, Govt might give a combined order of 3-4 sqd for airforce and 26 of these .

GoI should tell French to be ready. We might be rolling fast after May24
Depends. I'm of the opinion the negotiations would commence early next year & stitched up by mid next year . We could also see the IAF / MoD take up the remaining 2 squadrons to be procured where everything from the price to the accessories are fixed except the cost accounting for inflation needs to be negotiated which if our side is really serious about sealing the deal soon shouldn't take long .

If everything goes according to schedule & the BJP returns to power then next year same time we could be signing a deal for 26+36 for the IN + IAF respectively.

Should Indian Navy do the same trials in their aircraft carriers? 🐶🐕

Stress control canine in trials with US Navy

The US Navy has begun trialling the use of an expanded operational stress control canine on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.

What for ? Our aircraft carriers spend more time in maintenance than at sea. At least this is true of the INS Vikramaditya . Besides they don't venture more than 1000 kms away from our coasts , MOSTLY. Compare that to US carriers which voyage around the world always on short notice to join action in troubled spots .
