If true then we are continuing to pay the price for the absolutely zero strategic thinking and vishwaguru shanthi attitudes of past (and present ?) govts. Like Stalin said why is Srilanka still a separate country ? Why Nepal , why Myanmar , why Bangladesh ? All of them selling out to chinkas who keep building military installations near our borders using rented land while we keep twiddling thumbs and play defensive ALL the time. Utterly frustrating and shameful !
We could make Myanmar a "protectorate" and write a constitution for them. Something similar to what US wrote for Japan. We can justify our actions by pointing at the junta.
Myanmar will solve multiple problems. NE insurgency, Connection from the NE to the Sea. 100% surrounding BD, Easier access to SEA and even oil if nneeded. It will also take our missiles closer to the Chinese population.

Yes, we. can also make entire ASEAN as protectorate. Also go on full fledged war with China, defeat them, make them tributary. After that we should move on to defeating US to gain our rightful place as Vishwaguru.
Dream big man.

Short sighted people with defeatist attitude have always been a problem in India.
Status quo people live in a fantasy.
Change is inevitable. The only question is 'Do you want it to be in your favor!?'

Just my thoughts:

We have a requirement of 24 frigates. We already have 12 frigates in our service and we are building another 11. We are lacking 1 to reach out required goal.

The plan to procure two different types of frigates to meet the required numbers faster was good but it was not executed correctly.

The plan as of now is to have 7 P-17A frigates and 4 P-11356 frigates. What should have happened was that we could have gone for 9 P-17A and 3 P-11356 frigates.

The 9 P-17A frigates could have been built by 4 MDL, 3 GRSE and 2 GSL and then we could have directly purchased the 3 P-11356 from Russia.

But what we did was we purchased 2 frigates directly and are building another 2 locally. This left 1 hull which was already under fabrication, unutilized.

Due to all of this, we are getting 7 frigates with AESA and true VLS. Rest 4 frigates are without any proper AESA radar and VLS SAM.

GSL cannot build frigates of the P17 class yet - its bigger and much more complex. The Talwar build would create infra for it. What is infuriating is that L&T HAS all the facilities and yet IN is not trusting enough to give them full FFG construction. Its a very stupid Catch 22.

Should have canned the 4 1135.6 FFGs and created a P17MK1A if you know what I mean.

Mdl has said once delivery starts then they might receive follow on orders for p-17a or might be improved b

Sir ji, if two shipyards were capable of building the P-17A then shouldn't they have provided the assistance to upgrade infrastructure of the GSL.

Our frigates are heavy and expensive, we can't operate 30+. What we need is a large number of small missile carrying ships to adopt shoot and scoot strategy. P17As are expensive to manufacture compared to Russian frigates.
Not too expensive becz it comes close to a destroyer in warfighting capability & size, major difference is propulsion s/ms. Russian equipment always costs less.

Pakistan is getting 100 new ships in this day and age with their economy tanking?? Yeah right  :bplease:

And as for China? PLAN would be bankrupteed before it ever get to 500 ships. There is no way that China can afford to maintain that many ships in seaworthy combat capable condition.
Pakistan is highly unlikely to get 100 news ships but brother until and unless u see chinese people rioting and killing ccp members on the streets plan WILL get around 550 ships

Yeah and half of them would be rusting away in ports not combat capable because they received no money to maintain their ships. There is a reason why the USN failed to get to the 600 ship navy even with massive budget increases. The most they got to was around 400 ships and they had to scale back and decommision some ships because their maintenance budget was being blown up.

Unlike US chinese shipbuilding industry can maintain large number of ships at the same time and due to state control there is no dearth of funds and the chinese ships are much cheaper to build and operate so based on what do u think they cant maintain that many ships?
Only problem i see is manning all those new vessels ..with dwindling young pop and many vessels being commissioned at same time they will have a hard time putting experienced staff in the ships

They are not gonna get past 500 ships, I'm telling you. No way in hell even with their resources. Only reason why you see more ships during WWII was because the entire nation (US) was on a war footing and everyone was drafted or pressed into service and maintaining these ships. But when WWII ended, a lot of ships got sold really fast or given away as aid/loan to other countries.
