Despite it no retaliation no retrospection no improvement
I don't know how that guy after multiple ambushes got vcoas position
True he shouldn’t be VCOAS if your soldier is dying not because lack in tactics or carelessness but simply because they didn’t have an armoured vehicle then iam sorry it’s your fault and also with the whole PARASF thing Capt.shubham’s team was just straight sent into an ambush without securing the position that’s poor use of your SF assests and after that the breach in security with that interrogation video leaked and OGW’s dying and whole political drama after that yeah that guy shouldn’t even be close to VCOAS let alone COAS.

He has his share of fault along with sf
Even the 9sf guys went directly into the trap despite multiple past engagements and experience
And it became standard to just throw the bait and sf will come running into it
Even basic sop weren't followed
That's fault of army commander but even 9sf being such an experienced force behaved very responsible wrt it's men

But one thing for sure govt has taken ambushes seriously despite keeping under dim light for optics

That’s the sketchy part cause I think 9para team was sent to secure and retrieve the body of Capt MV Pranjal and they probably thought the terrorists ran away it was a tragic failure anyways

Bhai are you sure?cause if they wanted to make VCOAS Dwivedi COAS what’s stopping them now?you know better than me but I think they don’t want to make him COAS and finding someone else?
My comment was just a speculation on this with no 100% surety! My speculation was on the basis of how seniority(the reason for 1 month entention, probably) and service left!

Hope so for such a strong and “modern”army which is now at their strongest position in Kashmir ambush should not be so common and repetitive with such high Casualties

One of the proposals being worked out, as per the sources, included raising the percentage of Agniveers getting permanently absorbed to 50% . Another issue that is being looked into is in inducting eligible candidates for technical streams such as aviation, engineering, electronics and similar trades.

“The cap in the maximum recruitment age to 21 years is leaving a smaller pool of eligible candidates. Thus, the proposal is to raise this to 23 years so that we can get the youth passing out of polytechnic institutions,” said a source.

Quoted from the article
Truth is, the Army is not worried, they know they have to downsize and they are doing it.

The biggest proof of this was Agniveer launch. You would have expected that with a 4 year service term and 0 recruitment for 3 years prior, they would recruit not just the usual 60,000 but maybe twice or thrice that to "make up the numbers". Yet, the Army only recruited 40,000, that should tell you all you need to know - there is no shortfall and the effort is now to cut down not make up the numbers.

You can project this on your own like the table below.

YearRecruitmentRetirementsAssumed force size
201960,00060,00012,60,000
2020060,00012,00,000
2021060,00011,40,000
2022060,00010,80,000
202340,00060,00010,60,000
202440,00060,00010,40,000 (today's size)
202540,00060,00010,20,000
202640,00060,00010,00,000
202740,00080,000*
(20,000 from 2023 Agniveer batch)
9,60,000

* Assuming 50% of Agniveers will be retained based on news reports that the 25% one was too drastic.

This means more money for buying new equipment, less people to buy equipment for. Its good not bad imo.
