I am curious to figure difference of a a 50 km Artillery shell, a 300km rocket and a 300km missile.

For a battle to be fought by India in the near future either on the western front or on the northern front, which is more useful and important for the commander in the field , taking into consideration the terrain and logistics.

What are the cost advantage and disadvantage of each.

A 50 km shell and a 300 km rocket would be the most used round in case of a war. These are much more cost effective compared to a 300 km missile.

Because dhanush is caught between the sharang and atags . Neither ultra cheap like the sharang nor modern and long ranged like the ATAGS. Sure they used the dhanushs barrel for the sharang but this small order is more like a consolation prize to aweil.

Indian army too should look into buying the below artillery round to give our howitzers an 100 km range.

IIT Madras I guess is already working on a ramjet propelled artillery shell which when fired from a 155/52 cal artillery system should have a range of 70-80km.
In the thin air of Leh-Ladakh, due to lesser air resistance, this range would be even more.

I read a bit, seems this might have issues with low explosive mass. Its a subcaliber projectile with rocket booster. Might be fine as stop gap till we get proper ERPs

Small correction.

Range of Ballistic Extended range = 50 km
Range of Guided Long Range = 70 km

70-80km seems too low. From ATAGs, which can fire 50km without RAP, even regular rocket assisted projectiles should go some 70 ish kilometers.

This is from IITM study, where gun firing 24 km (seems like range figure for 155x39 gun) normally was estimated to be capable of 90km with Ramjet engine. From ATAGs, if they are able to handle force of launch, this could go ~150km.

Wow what a surprise
Is this a joke !!! They haven’t yet inducted the futuristic ATAGS but talk of another advanced gun with a threat of two front war looming.
