AWACS come under battle space management. You need different completely skills for that.
AEW is combat supports and works under direction of battle space management.
ELINT is a different ball game all together. It mainly comes under intelligence domain.

Weapon systems branch is more related with operational role. It will handle usage of weapons especially stand-off weapons, SAMs and air-craft weapons in twin seat aircraft.

The Intelligence sub-section will mainly perform actual strike planning along with post-battle damage assessment.

This sub-stream will have analysts of imagery which has been obtained through surveillance carried out by the UAVs or through satellites. There will be information warfare specialists; analysts of intelligence inputs, observers and signal intelligence collation.
And also, operators of space systems will be part of this sub-system.
Fourth sub-stream is Surface
Besides the newly inducted S-400 air defence system from Russia, there will be mission commanders, and also operators of surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air guided weapons and other than close-in weapons systems.

it will reduce the expenditure on flying training.

There is no notable difference between AWACS and AEW&CS other than the terminology. Both perform the role of airborne early warning controllers with primary role of enhancing the SA of one's airborne platforms.

If the illustrations are indeed correct and not representative of the systems in service, then we have got the 5P85TE3 TEL based on BAZ 64022 6x6 series as part of the S-400 deal.

But here's a catch. 5P85TE3 can't carry and launch the 400 km or 380 km 40N6 or its E variant.

Only the 51P6E launcher based on MZKT 7930 can launch the 40N6 series missile. So , I believe , we have also bought this particular model of TEL.


And I have a gut feeling that besides airspace denial and interception of fighter jets , ISR and ISTAR assets, AWACS and AEW&S , the other imp task is area BMD of Vital areas and IAF bases in the hinterland hosting fighter and transport squadrons .

If I may, don't read too much into it by that image. They've posted an outdated image of the AMCA as well. The way one can tell is that the latest AMCA design has forward swept air intake edges with DSI. whereas the one they've shown there is the older AMCA design with backward swept air intake edges with intake splitter plate in place of the DSI.

Those uniforms have not been replaced. WTF?

The new digital camo uniform has replaced No.10 uniform. the No10A, no 8A and Dangri remain in service.
