There is nothing wrong calling Indian Armed forces as a United nations Forces Because Indian Armed forces import all sort of weapons which no other country do. Moreover, the Indian Armed forces don't import weapons/platforms for a fight but just to show up. Hence United Nations Armed forces is a better term.

In the past many such opinions actually materalised. Old mirage, Jaguar, Mig-29

Mithai means all indigenous solutions which our Armed forces are sabotaging day and night. Tell me If Tejas FOC is not better than these second-hand mirages or Jaguar? why can't they buy a few Mithai rather licking dustbins? If IAF wants to maintain Jaguar or Mirage fleet then why can't they order spare parts rather than buying whole junk? By the way what happened to Mirage upgrades?? The same goes for ATAGs, LCH, LUH, and many more.

You both prove my point by agreeing to buy it. that's why I call the United Nations Armed forces who love dustbins

Friend, I am just wondering, were you reading while you were writing? United nations AF has done shopping thrice in name of countering F-16. They bought 60 Mirage-2000, 80 Mig-29, and 272 Su-30MKI. still, IAF needs 126 F-16
27 Feb incident was an IAF fault because they were sleeping rather than upgrading the fighter jets fleets with the latest SDR, SPJ, and BVR. don't blame Mig 21 or HAL.
I think you’re making assumptions. The mirage 2000s are much more potent and the paf don’t want to face them. This was the case during post balakot, and the F16s turned tail as soon as they heard of approaching mirages.
wrt to chinooks and apaches, for the first time, the iAf is able to mobilize army assets way more faster and cleaner than ever before. C17s, c130s and chinooks are a blessing. That capability did not exist before. Nowhere close. The chinooks have performed Superbly to counter Chinese build up, and even chicom did not expect such swift retaliation. C130s and c17s are true stol aircraft moving 1000s of tonnes in a few weeks. India built up so many troops and assets in weeks, that awed the world. None, repeat NONE of the Soviet/Russian assets have Been remotely close to the Americans in terms of fast and heavy air mobility.
the apaches nigh mission capabilities are something that’s unheard of before in the iAf. Apaches provided constant surveillance in the Ladakh region, which is something, repeat was NEVER provided by Russian/soviet assets.
so, the purchases(albeit expensive ones) are very much practical, calculated and a need of the hour. All of these purchases have been put to very good use.

Lol, doing IAF squadron arithmetic has become a favourite pastime for defence enthusiasts, 4 + 3 + 12 + ... = 42 Yey! Problem Solved!
Pro tip: if you want to build your numbers, you need to think about the fighters you have to acquire each year (at least averaged out) over the period you want to achieve it by. If one were to start the clock in 2014, IAF at that point was about 10 sq short of the authorised 42 sq plus looking at retiring about 10 sq (approximately), to make up that number in say 10 years (plus 3-4 years for production to ramp up), you will need to acquire ~40 (i.e. 2 sq) every year. Now compare that against the numbers actually added in the last 7 years and the projections for next few years. And then compare that against what China is building up - the balance of power is going to change massively over the next decade in the favour of China.

The new ACM is projecting the requirement of 114 MRFA taking into account that 3 sqd of Jaguar, 3 sqd of Mig 29 and 3 sqd of Mirage 2000 will be retiring post 2030.
This leaves IAF with:
15 sqd Su30 MKI
6 sqd Tejas Mk1/1A
2 sqd Rafale
3 sqd Jaguar Darin 3
All in all, 26 squadrons. The ACM also clearly mentioned that they would not be able to meet the 42 squadron number in the next 10-15 years and that the IAF is aiming to achieve 35 squadrons in the next 10 years.
This is where both MRFA and Tejas Mk2 come into play.
So both the 6 sqd of MRFA(possibly Rafale) and 7 sqd of Tejas Mk2 are instrumental in addressing the shortfall in IAF squadron strength given that they go into mass production in the latter half of this decade.
MRFA production will be somewhere around 12-14 jets/annum and the production rate of Tejas Mk2 will also be somewhat similar at 16-18 jets/annum given the current indicated Tejas Mk2 squadrons planned for induction.

IAF plans to induct 200 fighter jets
With the IAF facing a dwindling fleet of fighter squadrons, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on Tuesday laid out a plan of inducting some 200 jets, but admitted that the new inductions would not meet the mandated 42 squadrons even in a decade from now. He said the S-400 air defence system to be imported from Russia would be inducted this year.

The missiles can target and bring down multiple air-borne threats. Addressing a press conference here ahead of Air Force Day (October 8), the IAF Chief, who took over on September 30, said there was a plan to meet new demand as old fighter jets were phased out. On being asked about a timeline on meeting the need for the mandated 42 squadrons, he said, “We will not be able to do so in the next 10-15 years.”

The IAF plans to phase out over 100 Jaguar jets, approximately 50 Mirage jets and about 60 MiG-29 fighter planes.

As the deliveries of 36 Rafale fighter jets will be completed by next year, the IAF now is looking to take up the case of 114 fighter jets. The responses to the ‘Request for Information’ have been received from manufacturers. “We are moving the case further,” the IAF Chief said.

“In this project, we are looking to integrate fifth and sixth generation technologies,” the IAF Chief said, adding that it would be a ‘Make in India’ model and the Defence Acquisition Council would decide on it.

Apart from the 114 jets to be made in India by a foreign maker, the IAF Chief said deliveries of 83 Mark 1A Tejas jets made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited would start in 2024. On being asked about the new air bases of China, the IAF Chief said the infrastructure developments on Chinese side do not impact IAF operations.

But Air chiefs PC has caused all the confusion..as per reports rafale and MK1a makes 200 fighters IAF is getting..Now even i m confused about Teja MK2...Now read this interesting part from article

"It is believed that at a recent meeting chaired by the National Security Advisor, the conflicting timelines for the AMCA and the LCA Mk2 project came up for discussion, with one view being that the focus needs to be on just the next generation fighter programme."

focus needs to be in next gen platforms, but where is the loads of money.

in the end they will have to rely upon tejas mk2 in order to reach desired target of 45 sqds.
so dont take tension.

These f4 rumours are just rumours spread by chandigarh dalals. F3R with india specific mods are still and in the coming decade will be unmatched in our region. We can upgrade when we loose this edge but not now.

And regarding wheather MOD will go for a large order of 114 aircrafts or in small 36 batches, well its upto MOD to decide. But IMHO MOD should keep the no. twin engine aircraft in control( i mean twin engine should inducted when we retire old twin engine jets i.e jaguas & mig-29s).

But our true panacea is lca mk2 with above 24 aircraft/year production from 2025. LCA and its variants are enough for our western front ( unless their is a need for deep ops like Balochistan etc.)
