So it entirely depends on our economy?

~5 new sqs or rafale +2 sqs of Tejas mk2 by 2030 should be reasonable expect with the size of defence budget at that time right?
yeah but he specifically said that he wants to make mmrca reality (which means 114 rafale)

I took mrfa into consideration.

Even if the order is given in 2022 we'll take 2025 to see first indian made rafale to join.

So nearly 5 sqs or less by 2030.

And even being extremely optimistic with Tejas mk2 won't give more that 2 sqs by 2030.

First flight 2023, and if we assume extremely quick trials,(unlikely), then order in 2025 and delivery of first sq by 2028.

Mrfa seems like a critical necessity this decade.

Otherwise indigenous platforms won't be enough to supplement our numbers this decade.

AMCA is quite far away I think. Raghu Nambiar sir, in an interview, had said that he expects the first squadron of AMCA operationalised by 2040- by the time Su30s will start phasing out.
nope, imo 1st sqd of amca will be operationalised by 2032-33

Some rumors in France about a deal proposed these last moments by France to built 150 Rafale in india (114 MMRCA + 36 for IN).
The blow received in Australia will see France make new and bold proposals....

(I expect to see France suggesting SSN Barracuda to India for exemple...)

France has to deliver ~66 Rafales to Greece Qatar and Egypt.

How long will Dassault take to finish this order?

So going for a standalone 36 unit order like last time might take a few years longer.

Might make sense to directly go for mmrca 2.0.

 This is why i say let IAF buy whtev they want in whtev number . If india face any major theat it is this one and half decade... Because gap is too big .. By 2035 india ll be a major economic power and we ll see china's power declining (comparative advantage ) starting this decade ..

That's what. I don't know why but peeps on this forum have become extremely hopeful wrt our defence manufacturing and research agencies, especially after Tejas Mk1 order. Honestly, it looks very difficult to me, how they deliver 3 new platforms- Tejas Mk2, TEDBF, and AMCA within a decade (even if their past laurels are kept aside). Ek RADAR 3 saal se clear nahi hua Uttam Mk2 goes to Def Expos every year and Sukhois fly with BARS. But anyway, that is off-topic for the thread.
Let's hope that IAF gets what it needs for now and the Govt makes some concessions in the budget(with assured local purchase) if these fellas at ADA, DRDO and HAL deliver. It should not happen that we keep waiting for MWF/TEDBF/AMCA and our Air force is caught again unprepared.

New IAF chief looks beyond 36 additional Rafale jets, wants 114 multi role fighter aircraft
IAF chief Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari also said first unit of S-400 air defence system would be delivered this year but it doesn’t mean force can cut down on fighter requirement.

New Delhi: Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari Tuesday strongly pitched for 114 Multi Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA), under the Make in India initiative, rather than opting for another 36 Rafale fighter jets.
The IAF chief also made it clear that it would be wrong to assume that possessing the S-400 air defence system, the first unit of which will be inducted later this year, would mean that the force can cut down on its acute need of fighters, since offensive and defensive capability cannot be compared.

He further argued that despite all the planned acquisition, including that of 114 MRFA, 83 Light Combat Aircraft Mk1A and the indigenous 5th generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), the IAF will not be able to meet its target of 42 squadrons over the next 10-15 years.
The IAF chief explained that the next decade will see the phasing out of four squadrons of the MiG 21 Bison, Jaguar deep penetration aircraft, Mirage 2000 and the MiG 29s.
“We have catered for this. The acquisition plan is based on the 83 LCA, deliveries of which will commence from 2024. We are fully committed to the AMCA programme, for which an aggressive timeline has been set by the DRDO… We plan to start inducting the AMCA by early years of next decade,” he said responding to a query by ThePrint during his annual press conference ahead of the Air Force Day on 8 October.

The IAF chief, who took over last week, added, “However, to mitigate the gap of fighter squadrons and combat capability, the RFI (Request for Information) for 114 MRFA was mooted, for which responses have been received. Now we are waiting to move the case up further.”
Responding to another question, the IAF chief said squadrons of unmanned aircraft (futuristic armed drones) are different from that of the fighters.
Asked specifically if this meant that the IAF was ruling out the possibility of procuring additional 36 Rafale fighter jets, ACM Chaudhari said the Rafale is also one of the contenders.

Correct me but he said in 35 sqd in 10-15 years ..Assuming we take delivery of 114 more Rafales then
14 Su-30
8 Rafales
6 Tejas MK1 and MK1A
3 MK2
1 AMCA
Rest sqd of remaining M2K and Mig29

Jags , Migs (along with majority 29) and some older mirages will retire by then
Even if we established rafale production line in india then how many we will get in a year ??

Lets not piss on the acm ...shoddy journalism again it seems
Sorry, I just wake up after reading the newly appointed United nation's AF chief statement.

DRDO/ADA/HAL must drop working on Tejas Mk2 immediately if UNAF is planning to acquire less than 300 Tejas mk2. There is no point wasting money and resources and should leave alone crying baby UNAF for the future.

Very very dangerous Tone was adopted by a new chief in his very first speech. My way or high way type attitude. Confrontation is bound to happen in the near future as govt is planning for the Theatre command. he didn't mention even Tejas mk2 name which is actually a solution for IAF low squadron.

General Naranve and This chief will make CDS coming days very tough for sure.

PLZ REPORT THIS YT CHANNEL, SPREADING FAKE NEWS LIKE NO ONE

JUST SEE THE HEADLINE :frusty::frusty:

Look at the language of the new chief He is clearly inviting Hyenas. Just wait .......Today"s speech will haunt his whole tenure. He just opened worm cane.
