Re: Tejas and Cold Start Doctrine

Had we gone for the Su-25 would have had a better CAS plane to provide dedicated air support.

This plane is just epic with its combat record plus its damn cheap and rugged.
we cans till go for Super Su34 MKI the specialist fighter Bomber plane

Re: Tejas and Cold Start Doctrine

so right a plane which can fly mach 1.2 cant lower speed to 0.6 mach at low altitude for CAS missions

but hold your breath the DORK will come up with logic that Rafale can with even with low wing loading

We didn't want a dedicated CAS aircraft, we wanted strike aircraft. Mig-27 was much better in terms of strike.

This shows how important training and having the right stuff in the first place is. Who needs war if you have this kind of casualty rate at peacetime.
FAF also used Mig-21 back in the eighties, maybe those simulators are still mothballed somewhere, they could be donated to India.
India's IAF (Imported Air Force) has bought too many different kinds of aircraft from various countries and suppliers.

I wonder how their overall efficiency, capability and interoperability is like.

Each IAF combat squadron has 21 fighter aircraft; The 21 comprise 16-18 frontline, single-seat fighters, two twin-seat trainers and three reserve aircraft to make up losses in a war.

and the writer talks about 16-18 in each squad doesn't each squad has 21 a/c is it the active strength.....

Finnish Hornets had kill ratio of 16:1 in exercieses with NATO countries who were with their best equipment. Makes one wonder, what that kill ratio could be against Indian air force...LOL

Try not donating your country to Russia for a start.

Why buy for many types of plane? Buy instead one good one which can do all, and do it for almost 40 years. FAF is already master of the nordic skies. With new JASSM system, they can do all roles needed.

Lockheed Martin Receives JASSM® Contract For Additional Finnish Air Force F-18 Integration Lockheed Martin

FA-18 participated in India's MMRCA but was found deficient.

Probably we have higher standards for equipment intake than FiAF. We can donate our QSR to FiAF for study at your FiAF Staff college.

And what is your Air Force? Co-operative air force or Poly-andry air force?

If put diplomatically, I would use the word 'consortium'. What a downfall for Brits. Now they have to rely on consortium to design and produce their 'only' fighter aircraft.

So when Finnish Hornets are coming for exercise in India!
Lets start to lobby for a finno-indo military alliance, two non-aligned democracies could be showing the way forward in cross-continent military co-operation. I bet that could be a nice surprise for our Russian friends, who last year had military exercises which involved defending against Finnish attack towards St. Petersburg. How could a small country like us threaten them, so that they have to have 90000 men strong military exercise to prepare for that...

Still they were dropping those NATO Eurofighters like flies... pretty good from the old ladies. Seriously, we have always had to manage without the newest equipment and try to use better training and tactics to compensate, qualitas potentia nostra

LOL! exercise has many modes of operation, who knows what situation was being simulated. Till I don't know that, I wouldn't comment on that.

Yeah, everybody says about superior tactics. But ground situation is very different. Recently German fan boys were in for a rude shock.

Of course peace time training is one thing, situation in real conflict is another. Last war fin-rus, FiAF had a confirmed kill ratio 27:1. Even then the Russkies had better planes, for example Finnish Brewsters and Me-109's dropped Russian P-51´s and Hurricanes. Also their own planes were not bad at all.

Regarding that NATO exercise, only info leaked out, was that our Air Force commander mentioned that kill ratio in a speech at some memorial day. Other than that unfortunately no info is available.

I am sure India has great air force and skillful pilots.

Regarding germans, check the list of all time fighter aces, that list is quite icy reading...
