wow:eek1:
i m very happy with this deal

are we using the s-300 as of now.
We have PAD (Prithvi air defence) anti-ballistic missile defence system which can be deployed at short notice at 2 major targets cities i.e. Delhi and Mumbai.

We have or are developing AAD which is (advance air defence) anti-cruise missile system.

Additionally we have also successfully tested several times our Akash missile.

And finally Barak-8 missile defence system which is jointly developed by Israel and India.

how many tubes it has in some pics its 4 and in some its 3.
Only 1 system comprising up to eight divisions (battalions) can control up to 72 launchers, with a maximum of 384missiles. This includes a combination of missiles designed for different ranges of targets. Depending on the requirement of short range/long range missiles, the numbers of a particular missile would change. Hence the number of launchers on a vehicle can change.

which version will we buying.

400 km (40N6 missile)
250 km (48N6 missile)
120 km (9M96E2 missile)

Apparently the Chinis are not getting all the missiles, not the 40N6. We need to watch out for the details. 11 billion is just too huge a figure.

Incorrect, Initial Regimental sets in Russia had 2 battalions & 4 batteries each, latest regimental sets now have 3 battalions. So a full regimental set is actually 3 battalions with 4 batteries (4 TELs + 4TLV) each as per Russian deliveries. Cost wise, regimental set of 2 battalions & 4 batteries each goes for 500 million, the Chinese ordered 6 such regiments for 3 billion, makes sense. A full modern regiment with 3 battalions will have 48 launchers. Therefore 192 missiles with double the number in reloads therefore 384 missiles per regiment.

So a full regimental system of 3 battalions as is the case now in Russia will cost 750 million. This is the set-up that would make the most sense for India since it would allow 1 battalion in the regiment to play offensive during actual maneuvers and cover ground forces on the move, since a battery can be up to 100 km away from the command center. We can easily have 12-13 Full regiments for 9-9.75 billion plus another 1.25-2 billion for TOT, make in India, set-up of facilities etc.

13 regiments can easily cover all of India and Andaman. The 11 billion figure makes sense to me.

The most recent regimental complects include 4 battalions each for Russian VKS. All the earlier delivered units are augmenting now or have been augmented already.

Bearing in mind nowadays production rates (12 regimental complects a year) it will take 2-3 years to build all the stuff and up to 5 years to build a proper AD/BMD system and infrastructure to use S-400 with a proper effectiveness.

The Chinese understand the Pakistanis and know that any Chinese system provided to Pakistan may be accessible to the Americans as well.
The Chinese depend on the HQ-9,the Pakistanis are going to get a monkey model at best.

HQ-9 is a copy of S-300PMU-1, but the latest version is PMU-2 for VKS and V-4 (also using 40N6) for the Army :)

I beg to differ pakis are the biggest military buyer of chinese weapon export (55% of total weapon export of china),pakis provided them soviet MI 24 and French Crotale which they later reverse engineered.

Exactly ,the Chinese are afraid that the Pakistanis are compulsive liars, given enough money a general could have an American team inspect a HQ-9 for weaknesses that the yanks can then exploit.
