Referring to the huge hole in numbers courtesy non recruitment during the COVID years & now the 40-50 thousand odd numbers they're taking in the form of Agniveers , of which only a quarter is expected to be retained.

We've now been reduced to starting out with basic stuff like numbers & revisiting the truism - mountain warfare eats up soldiers. Everything else like modernisation & upgradation is a very distant second or third at this point in time .

No I think it's time to move on though I'd re-visit the topic later on from time to time.

From the list you've enclosed -

# 2 wasn't India specific . The entire world including China was subjected to it .

#3 is exaggerated. The communists always enjoyed a marginal presence in the Punjab especially among the peasants , workers & writers. Remember H.K.S. Surjeet - the modern day "Chanakya ?"

I don't think there's any footprint of the Chinese there. They'd think 10 times before being involved in such activities . This isn't 1962 anymore. Ditto for the communists & their collaboration with China.

#4 not fully convinced of it . Doubt China'd expose its capabilities in such a cavalier manner . Also doubt our systems are so vulnerable & us that helpless though one can't explicitly rule out both the above mentioned factors.

If we're discussing war around 2030 their capabilities & capacities would be that much more enhanced . Hopefully ours would be too but wartime activities of this nature will be of a different order altogether. You really can't be comparing it to peacetime or a situation of no war no peace as has been in existence now since 2020.

It's the instinctive need of an Anglo Saxon to invent enemies even where there are none & having identified & named an enemy to then proceed with demonising the enemy before undermining & destroying the same.

In the absence of an external enemy the same impulse turns into an auto immune disease like witch hunting , McCarthy ism & its latest manifestation - wokeism.
