Not earthquakes, but few glacial lake bursts in recent years has been alarming for me. Yes, these things happen but not these frequently. We have lik 1-2 each year, previously it was like once in 5-10 years.

Coinicentally all these lakes were situated at or near China border. A Chinese sabotage team intruding & blowing up the walls of the glacial lakes to create an artificial flood is highly possible.

Remember China uses such underhanded, inhumane tactics like creating COVID. During Galwan they artificially increased the river's flow to wash away our soldiers.
Similar incidents are happening in the east. A few months ago, a dam was washed away in Sikkim. Reason? Media says due to flash flood. The incident didn't receive much publicity.

Going by the word of local sources, excess water was due to melting of glacial lakes during non-snow months under abnormally high temperatures during a long summer followed by a very erratic monsoon.

Almost total lack of snow/sleet in the higher reaches of Himalayas from the East to the West this year. Some areas are getting snow in UK. Hope it picks up.

Upper/middle reaches of HP facing water shortage as some water bodies have frozen because of low temperatures but there's no snow/rain this year.

This may have far reaching consequences for the hills and worse for the plains during the summer months in the absence of rains.

We seem to be facing the same hurdles of nature which was/is faced by CPEC in Pakistan along the fragile Himalayas. If CT's are to be taken seriously then we must have some super-duper capabilities too to 'trigger natural calamities' to damage CPEC infrastructure in Pok/Pak territory.

Tourism has been severely affected in the Himalayan ski resort of Auli in Uttarakhand due to a lack of fresh snowfall in the region for quite some time. The hill station now expects better fortunes after the first snow of the season.
According to locals, there was no snowfall since December 12 last year and tourists continued to flock to Auli till December 31 when the snow blanket was present.

@ezsasa what is the purpose of OSINT?
pre-social media, information from governments in warzones and conflicts were hard to come by, during and after first iraq war(from western perspective) it was noted that embedded journalists were not being truthful and propagating govt line, a need was felt to gather information either to discover new info or validate govt issued information thru legal means from publicly available information hence open source intelligence.

now a days, large sections of OSINT itself is part of the propaganda from warring parties. latest example being ukraine conflict.

my personal take on OSINT is there in op of this thread from 2019, after ukraine conflict my argument only got strengthened that it has now become a propaganda tool. just like journalism, once facade of neutrality is dropped it is another layer of propaganda.

The Chinese Army has released footage of training exercises by a group of snipers from the 92nd Brigade of the 73rd Army of the Chinese Eastern Command.
