There is no harm in joining an alliance where you as a sovereign country have same right as other countries have .USA need India as India need USA so this is mutual understanding but giving or inviting a military power in your backyard it will halt indian emergence in long run .They can smell every thing sitting there be it missiles,strategic assets every other thing so Goi should act accordingly.

it's not India is inviting US to fight our war or to save Bhutan. it's if Bhutan asks US to do so.

Chinese are an existential threat to India . With little indigenous capability there were not too many options for India India already struggles with smaller Pakistan a larger China would be too much for India and an anti Indian alliance is what made India look for alliance.
