In the wake of tensions along the India-China border, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has given the green signal to the state to pursue the issue of construction of an airstrip at Rangrik in Spiti. The airstrip would act as a landing ground in case of any exigency.

The thing about China is, you allow them to cut their losses, they will nurse their hatred, and strike back with double the force. All that India got for arriving at a compromise at Doklam is the Galwan crisis. India needs to make China pay a strategic price for the next couble of decades.Or the next time they will strike even harder and cut off and occupy entire sub sector North which is their aim.. So, we sit out the winter in force.Maybe make some tactical gains if the opportunity arises.. And if the Chinks escalate elsewhere , buildup men and infrastructure like crazy there, like we are doing in Doklam, to make China rue its decision to keep the border unsettled with the intention of keeping us unbalanced.. The chinese should be made to deploy on the LAC all year round..

The only reason they have not attacked till now is their qualitatively inferior weapons and conscript soldiers who are not on par with a regular army. With both these disadvantages, the Chinese cannot overwhelm a defensive force.

The Chinese seem to want security for CPEC which they will not get from India. India will neither agree to let the CPEC passing through POK be nor will it give China the safety of alternative routes. Without a guarantee from India on this front, the Chinese will forever be on the backfoot, whatever bullying tactics they use.

The only way the Chinese will learn a lesson and back off is if their military is simultaneously put under immense two front pressure - both from land and from the sea. How and when this will happen is anybody's guess but the pieces for this are slowly being put into place. Till this happens, the Chinese will poke and poke.

Chinese seems to be providing thermal shelters with solar microgrids. Why can't our Indian engineers develop a modular prefab shelters with similar amenities for our soldiers? Its not a great tech and can be developed faster in few weeks and if private manufacturers participate on warfooting basis , we can manufacture in thousands in a matter of a month or two. We have the necessary raw materials in plenty. But no one seems to be thinking in the govt regarding the personal welfare of our soldiers. In the next few weeks, weather is going to be the worst enemy rather than the Hans.

This is more to do with the difference in military doctrine itself. PLA came here to stay, IA went there to defend. Since PLA is the aggressor, they know how long they are going to stay, as a defender we don't know how long PLA are going to stay and which direction their attack is gonna come from.

Forgot to add, they have more plains on their side where as there are more mountains on our side.
if you geolocate the site they are showing in their propaganda, it would be far away from front lines in the plains. by that logic we already have bases which accommodate similar facilities where site is conducive to build such structures.
