AR and VR are definitely a thing already - only question is will it become ubiquitous like the smartphone or not in a few years. A lot of normies think “metavers” is just about having virtual meetings in cartoonish avatars - but its really about the technology (both hardware and software) that is enabling it. In ~10 years you could be wearing AR glasses (a la Google glasses - that was really ahead of its time) instead of a phone, which can project full visual acuity video to you eyes (either augmenting what you see or or giving you a completely immersive virtual experience), and it will take inputs by you gestures or even directly reading your nerve signals. Once we are there the usecases are literally infinite. What are the buisness applications of Metaverse?
Here Meta’s tech demo from this year, gives you an idea of the current start of the art.
