That's one reason i think Pak army wants to get rid of Imrand. Pak army and other elites want to play off China and US to get money from both, while passing information on each others weapons systems as well.
Pakistani elites specially want to keep some kind of relationship with west, because in return their kids get admissions in top western universities, and get to immigrate to the west (That's why so many Pakistani elites are dual citizens). This is something they cannot get from China.

Imran on other hand has ideological opposition to the west and see them as colonizers or something.

But i think it was an attempt to retaliate because an Indian missile hit Pakistan few days ago there plan was to deny after firing the missile just like india said that the missile was fired accidentally i have enquired some retired army personnel they said no missile can be fired accidentally
