You may think that they want to derail the AMCA. But consider this: We wont get any 5th generation fighter until 3035 when we get the AMCA flying. From now to 2035 China would have a huge lead in 5th generation fighters. Getting Su-57s may bridge the gap if certain conditions are met.

Armed Forces/DRDO should really dial down their chest-thumping on firing a few unguided rockets (that too are imported) from LCH/Rudra and calling it a game changer.

Unless they integrate HELINA (or some other ATGM) and self-defence suite (LCH) it's just a toothless tiger running around.

Did IA as usual do rona and said we only want hellfire and govt denied etc. . leading to football between HAL, IA, MoD etc...till finally IA realised they won't get the foreign toy and hence agreed for helina , by which time it's 2023 and probably helina is outdated ?

When DRDO completed nag missile development a decade ago its one of the best and cutting edge tech, and need at least 4 decade for it to become outdated
