The AMCA and AURA/Ghatak Ucav is becoming a joke now. Every few months DRDO/MoD officials giving new updatea while even the TD is not in sight.

China already deployed J-20 against us, they are making same mistake as Balakot and Galwan. In next few years there will be an air incident with China after which IAF will cry, we did not have stealth aircraft just like they did about AIM-120C5 vs R-77 during Balakot. ACM Dhanoa himself said if it would have been Rafale, it would have different result. Unprepared.

Anyway, Tejas mk1A + Astra mk2 in mass is the best bet so far because Rafale are in small number.

Quite frankly Doklam & Galwan notwithstanding , when was the AMCA expected to enter service even if we consider the Mk-1 version ? It certainly wasn't expected before the end of this decade by the most optimistic amongst us regardless of what the government & the various agencies said or sources quoted by defence journalists.

As far as the LCA Mk-2 is concerned , it was supposed to go into mfg as per the plans frozen during MP's tenure as Raksha Mantri in 2016 by 2026. We aren't meeting that schedule now. It's out of the question. But AMCA , Ghatak etc were always due in the 2030s.

That's why the MRFA especially the Rafales are so important. And my gut feeling is 2-4 squadrons of Su-57 with the Item 30 TF before the end of this decade although all evidence of that happening seems loaded against such an eventuality.

The problem with AMCA funding is the SPV model no major player is coming forward all are going for MRFA screwdriver ToT and then working with the OEM on 5th gen bird.
Basically funding their project and then getting x% screwdrivergiri TOT from them.
Only good news is VEM technology trying to take a larger part in the process.

It's my understanding and basically sarcasm that amca to be cleared after 110kn engine selection and spv selection
Just personal opinion
