Agreed, but had the initial timeframe of 72 months taken into consideration the time to deliver the weapons systems and sensors which are imported from abroad?
Also, the long lead items required for such a ship are ordered in batches at various stages of construction rather than at once.
From what I know, Vizag class did not utilize modular construction, which changed with P17A frigates.
Construction and rollout speed of P17A is already miles ahead of the Vizag class DDG.
Even in Nilgiri class frigates, the degree to which the modules are pre-fitted with the equipment is not as high as global standards, so there is a lot of time required for outfitting still.

Well its the first ship we are building with modular construction, we still have a long way to go but we will get their.
Navy also needs to get rid of its policy of piecemeal 3-4 ship orders, that might change a few things aswell

Navy first needs to stick to a design and not change anything during production. Secondly order of all imported contents shall be duly placed before construction begins. Thirdly no. of ships in a batch should be increased ( like nilgiri class).

Only then timelines will improve.

What happens to old aircrafts in india. US has Tucson, Arizona and it was good.

They are disassembled entirely and stuffs that still can be used are sold in market for e.g. Engines, APU and so - There are buyers in mid-level power generating companies that purchase it. Rest innards of airframe and so are sold as scraps to salvage aluminium, titanium and such material. Electronics often salvaged for their high quality parts and/or sold in market for reuse, or many times supplied to various laboratories. Highly confidential stuff often sent back to authorities or if not possible destroyed. Cabling etc used in sourcing copper and so. Landing gear etc can be sold as scrap or used in suitable machinery. At the very end of this ;leeching; remains outer frame with panels sometimes as ;remains; of the aircraft.

I remember when we retired those Antonov-12 their turboprop engines were purchased by some marine engineering companies as ;power generators; that still might be in use.

The 6 tapas frames hal is making they will be used to conduct further tests to arm it right?
Nah. Most likely to achieve weight reduction, endurance and service ceiling targets and then for user trials. I don't think anybody from ADE has ever said Tapas will be armed.

Isn't that the OG missile program that gave us the Prithvi?

Can be taken down by 1960s million dollar missile too easily....probably includes one of those bmw tech packages with satellite radio and gps and self driving software

Its admitted by army that in a war in our scenario where pakistan and china have proper air defence it is of no use . It is era of Swarm drone , stealth drone , Small munition carrying drones and kamikaze . And money needed for other projects like AMCA which is yet to be sanctioned by cabinet , MK2 , engine deal , 3rd air craft career navy chief was talking about few days back , And artilleries modernization .

3 billions for Navy's surveillance does not make sense . Can be done by local system in course of time . It is Not some futuristic tech .

Whole point of drones was that they were supposed to be cheap and disposable....what is the point of this nonsense. Its the price once pays when you don't pay attention to having a domestic MIC but atleast we are secular which is our natons first and only priority!

Following is a example . Russia blocked specialized steel export for our aircraft career for some reason . Took us two years to make our own . Importing is just a habit . If it was some stealth drone which we might not be making for at least a decade or more i wld have been convinced .
