Well that would be quite an achievement. We can expect a good NGMBT if they can achieve all that is "required" in 27/28 ton category, they are expecting the first proto type in 2 years? Is DRDO as a partner must for the industry who get the tender? Because for it to be completely indigenous, the industrial house should have all the technologies but right now its all fractured and some technologies like ERA is non existent in Industry.

Why assume best scenario . 500 mm Heat protection means protection from rpg 7 type weapons.

Actually 500mm is on the very very quite pathetic side for HEAT protection. Let's see the LAT weapons of our FRienDly neighbours.
PAKIS have standard rpg 7 clone as their standard rocket launcher, which can easily be armed with PG7VR rockets, cheap and effective, 600mm RHA after ERA as per rosboronexport site.
Next is Alcota 100- 700mm after ERA, they have a quite a few of them.

Now comes the chinese, they still use big Pf-98 with 800mm pen after ERA in many of their infantry squads, especially seen in propaganda videos in Tibet.
They have also massive number of diposable 80mm rocket launchers, especially Pf89 which are with rather lackluster performance between 400 to 500mm after ERA. Don't know if Rpg7 copies are still used.

Both also have ATGMS with varying power between 600mm to whooping 900mm+ RHA, especially Pakis tow2a and tow2b top attack atgms.

In my mind, light tank should go for maximum focus on chemical rounds protection with maximum firepower achievable in less than 30tons package. Also, both soft kill, hard kill and anti drone countermeasures should also be made standard for any future indian armour.

They are also manufacturing various wing components for both Commercial and military planes like Apache, Chinook, Hercules and also manufactures entire PC-12 Pilatus.

If NAL able to sort out the saras and RTA (if possible) atleast we have some indigenous manufacturers apart from HAL to do aircraft structures.


Apart from that they also have a candidate for FICV program.

Also note the sophistication of this artillery systems. I once saw Major Gaurav Arya documentary on Republic TV about our armed forces. In one series about Artillery regiment our gunners move the Artillery two arms manually by lifting it. But in this video showcased all the system have automation in every movement whether moving on own power, positioning itself with respect to targets.

Bharat Forge literally have all the artillery required for our Army. Basically we have Dhanush, ATAGS, Upgunned Sharangs and apart from that we have Bharat-52, Bharat-45, MArG (Titanium and Steel version). Apart from that we have existing IFG 105mm and Garuda self propelled 105mm which undergoes trials in Ladhak region few months back.
