Well .. NATO forces depend on airpower a lot more than the Russians where airpower is secondary.
You can see the difference in doctrine with which side has more anti air.
India doesn't have the monies to fight like nato so speculation is pointless.

I was wondering can't we use our BMD radars for SSA.

No you just said opposite of what required netra radar are not mobile but can track sats in Leo , GSC, SSC orbit while BMD radar have capacity upto Leo. Besides SSA is not just radars it's a combination of system including eots system and satnav calibration machanism those things wouldn't be available in BMD radar besides range of SSA is 3400km width in orbit tell me which BMD radar capable to do this??

NOT TO FORGET that isro has a mobile motr that can be effectively used to track a salvo launch of missile if postioned appropriately I wonder which drdo radar could do that. They can track object as small as 10 cm
