How does these Pseudo sats fly during night time....Don't they require high energy density batteries for that purpose

They have huge wingspans like gliders, so they use atmospheric lift in addition to battery. Wings have solar cells which charges the battery to be used for night. Electronics onboard use that battery.

Agree on the point that we can keep going with equipment that is indigenous but only matches 85-90% of the criteria instead of importing foreign equipment that matches 100%. In fact, we are already doing that in some areas like Tejas, LCH, and others.

However, comparing Predator MQ-9 which is a proven, war-tested platform for decades, packed with the latest sensors and weapons to Tapas BH-02, which is literally still in flying trials trying to reach the desired altitude is too much.
A UAV is not just a flying kite, endurance is not everything. We need sensors, especially high-resolution SAR, secure data link with over-the-horizon communication which is the most important factor, and light PGMs (I think SAAW might work).

Now, DRDO might have already figured all that out, I mean they have already taken a lot of time to develop this basic UAV.

Agree, neither anyone is claiming DRDO a super duper organization nor no-one here opposes import which is necessary in many cases.

Nothing grow in isolation. Armed forces want world best while having zero participation in development of platform and zero commitment. This kinda attitude does not work.

Look at Tejas, after induction of Mk1 and further commitment for 83 more has turned things 360 degree. There is ocean of opportunities are coming just name it... MWF, AMCA, Lift, TEDBF.... Many more..

Look at speed of evolution in aviation industry and Tejas itself has just took place once Tejas got inducted back in 2016. Can you imagine these activity if Tejas would not been inducted? Never

Well, that is sad because MQ-9 and Tapas both have similar dimensions (same wing length (20m) and body length of 9.5m. vs. 11m).

Are you sure its payload is that low ?

MQ-9 has a much powerful engine. Honeywell TPE331 is capable of 671 kW compared to 73kW in TAPAS.

I this world having capability means nothing until u utilize it
Most effective nations always utilize their capability and sometimes beyond their capability
This is how it works
In coming years we all here will agree that our armed forces can perform very uneffectively due to vintage weapons and inefficient bureaucracy as power disparity between us and China+Pakistan will increase many folds
And we here will even find hard to defeat Pakistan in future leave alone China
I don't see anything positive until some miracle occurs
And in our military miracle is when we are beaten badly with large amount of casualties

Tungsten aint that bad honestly, especially since uranium advantage is 5-10% and disadvantage is massive radiation. Fine for US/UK who fight far from own borders, but not for us.

No, it can't carry 5.5 ton of payload. You're confusing MTOW with payload. It's Maximum Take-off Weight is 5.5 ton with a Ukrainian 750hp engine whereas it's payload capacity is 1.3 ton to 1.5 ton. When this thing fly with all it's PGM and missiles, it'll generate a huge RCS. Many time TB2 survived because of it's small size, akinci won't have that luxury. Maybe as a standoff missile carrier it'll have it's chance.
