I will repeat again, case of Armata and Arjun are completely different. Gunner sight in Mk1A is a vulnerability as it directly risks the lives of our crewmen, in Armata it isn't.

Ya'll Nibbiars probably by that time theirs GL 5 APS would be active but it's exact capabilities are still uknown.

Yes, APS installed on tanks are meant to stop such attacks by projectiles (cannot stop saturation attacks). Except for some drones, most Chinese weapons have not been tested in actual battles. So how good will the Chinese APS be is an question that does not have an answer. Compared to Israeli APS like the Trophy which has been tested in the Middle East and proven to work.

Hope some work is being done on developing an Indian APS for our tanks.

Still I feel that there is no need to feel scared about the supposed armour superiority of the Type 99.We just need to find the right technological solution to exploit the weak points on the Type 99.

Since the US now openly acknowledges that China is a short, medium and long term threat, what will be the chances of them collaborating with India on the latest APFSDS round technology. Can DRDO work with the equivalent US organisation to bring the technology to India.

Anyway we should continue our own research into developing better APFSDS rounds.

Thank you . Very informative video. But even Alpha defense agrees that it indeed is a weak spot of arjun. There is a steel block behind it , so it's not completely useless, but still there is no reason that the sight should not be shifted upwards like in the subsequent Leopard tanks, thus increasing the safety of the main frontal armour sufficiently.

Every tank on this world is based on their military requirement. For example; Markava was built with allmost zero protection from below and back along with turtle cross country speed ( around 20km/h ).

IA yet to give it requirment for FMBT what they only know just import with zero credibility.

Arjun's gun is somehow lacking compared to the Chinese. But we can develop a new smoothbore gun to overcome it with unitary rounds. Arjun offers good protection against apfsds rounds. If we are going to make uranium based apfsds then we need not to worry about Chinese tanks. It will penetrate them. But the problem is we haven't invested in uranium based apfsds till now
