Well for India, filmmakers would do, cause there's no decent game developers. But for international games, it purely depend on storyline of the developer. Usually its the modders that should do the trick, modding community can add a lot of content, eg: Fallout 4 has huge no. of weapon mods, someone who knows how to create mod can do it.

India had so many wars, there's lot of lore for developers to ponder on. Someday i guess.

Yes you are right, it good way of advertizing the gun, at least the people are aware such a gun exists.
Yes the modders idea is nice. Most games nowadays are just piling together all the interesting weapons in the world they can think of...not much like the games of yesteryear which focused on a single unit/Army and their inventory based on real-life.

The Division and Ghost Recon: Wildlands are the kind of games where we can pay developers to feature our weapons in them. Indian developers? Lol...they are a joke.

With the recent advent of the Denuvo and its increasingly widespread implementation in practically all of the latest and upcoming AAA releases, you guys can just forget about getting any mods for those game. For all intents and purposes, the modding community is more or less done, just the warez scene. :(

Death to this bloody denuvo and its bloody developers as well!! :shoot:

Well that's for cracking, for modding you don't need to crack, just see nexus mods, infact companies like Bethesda encourage mods and one of the reasons why players keep playing it. They release mod creation kits like GECKO for mod creation.

If in case modding community is hit because of this then you can be certain that AAA company would face severe backlash from fans.

BTW you torrent games? :biggrin2: :sweden:

From the barrel and the foregrip, But on further closer looks it looks like shorter barrel with different flash suppressor ..

this one is nice design and it do not look like 1b1,most of the mechanism maybe same but look is different.
About the bolded part, well, some of the mechanisms are same, like the retaining of the rotating bolt from the 1B1,as with any other modern rifle designe all over the world, but otherwise, there aren't really much similarity between these two designes.

Well, you don't need cracks to make mods,I know that much but in order to make a mod,you do need to modify the game executable files!!And there in lies the catch - Denuvo was developed to prevent just that - modification of the executable files!!So now,do the math.

If in case modding community is hit because of this then you can be certain that AAA company would face severe backlash from fans.
I certainly hope so.And in any case, those who pirate, will almost always never buy a game (I being one such a prick :D ),it's just a myth that stopping piracy will ever increase the sell figures,in any significant proportions.

BTW you torrent games? :biggrin2:
I ONLY torrent, never buy!!Now,it's not that I can not afford a couple or even many more than that if I can wait for the steam sales and all,but the proud pirate in me will never allow me to do as such!! :D :sweden:

Its in user trails, you are looking no less than 2-3 years of trails, Than again 3-4 years of user trails and then recommendations for improvement and again minimum 1-2 years, Than finally made for mass production and will be distributed in 5-7 years in whole army..

This is very common, unfortunately ..

================

In between Army will receive mid term solution such as Excalibur MK1C and Ghatak, Elements in Army and system even trying hard to discourage this, That is why you look at various unauthenticated reports from chaps like pandit and etc with unnamed sources ..

Sir, pictures toh hum kab se dekh rahe hain..

What's current status, are they being tested by Army ?

Multi Caliber Individual Weapon System..Meeting the needs of Future Soldiers
Posted by Hind

DRDO and ARDE have been working on developing a new Assault Rifle for the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Armed Forces specially the Indian Army is not quite satisfied with the performance of Indigiously developed INSAS Assault Rifle.

INSAS which has been in service with the Indian Armed Forces from the times of Kargil War (1999) is not well accepted by the Indian Army. The major problem with INSAS is its caliber.INSAS uses 5.56 mm NATO rounds which though is lighter but do not carry the punch needed to kill the enemy.During development of INSAS,India had fought several wars with Pakistan and so a lighter caliber like 5.56 was decided to be more helpful during wars. But now,Army has to deal with Terrorists in kashmir and thus Army has to rely on AKM series of Assault rifles to deal with the insurgency in Kashmir since lighter calibers don’t yield much damage to the terrorist.

Indian army soldiers arrive at the site of a gun battle, on the outskirts of Srinagar

So demand was felt to have an assault rifle that could support several calibers.Lighter Caliber During Wars and Heavier Caliber during Counter-Insurgency operations. To fulfill this demand,DRDO and ARDE developed Multi-Caliber Individual Weapon System.

DRDO’s Multi-Caliber Individual Weapon System (MCIWS) being developed by the Armaments Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune, is an Indigenous Assault rifle which will allow operators to alternatively fire 7.62mm, 5.56mm and 6.8 mm rounds by changing the barrel group, breech block & magazine. Provision has also been made to mount an indigenous 40 mm Under Barrel grenade Launcher (UBGL) (pictured above) capable of firing programmable air-burst rounds.

CCD camera day sight and thermal imaging night sight can also be mounted on its picatinny rail system to engage targets in day & night conditions. The weapon body is machined with Aluminum alloy and a metal insert based 30 Round engineering plastic magazine and adjustable butt are also featured. Ambidextrous features for cocking, lever change and magazine change have also been incorporated.

MCIWS is made in India and is said to have performed very well during its Trials with the Army. The Assault rifle will be on the hands of Indian Troops Soon replacing INSAS and AKM’s.
Features
  • Capable of Firing different Caliber Ammunitions by changing barrel group, breech block and magazine
  • 92% commonality in all three Calibers
  • Provision for mounting Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL)
  • Light weight and modular design
  • Multiple Picatinny rails for sight system and fore-grip
  • Fully supported engineering Plastic Magazine with metallic inserts
  • Push type magazine release Mechanism

It seems to be a bloody deadly weapon. We need to focus on bullets and special rounds to increase range and lethality . We should focus on aerodynamic rounds to increase the range and decrease drag,

Maj Gen TK Kaul: Evangelizing peace through the IPSI

The India Pakistan Soldiers Initiative for Peace (IPSI) was founded by the late Padma Vibhushan awardee, Gandhian and social activist Miss Nirmala Deshpande, with the aim of promulgating peace between India and Pakistan.

The IPSI constitutes retired defense personnel of India and Pakistan, championing the cause of peace, disengagement and rapprochement through events, seminars and dialogues with senior country leaders at key discussions and talks in both countries. Taking laudable steps in urging both sides to get over the trust deficit and normalize relations. The purpose of the organization is to keep the dialogue process between the two countries alive through people-to-people contacts and meaningful discussions.

These military bigwigs who once bellowed war cries are now vociferously admonishing war and doing the peace chant. Holding the belief that there will be dividends in peaceful coexistence, which will usher in prosperity and empower people of both countries to kick-start a new era of progress.

Post Retirement Maj Gen TK Kaulhas lead innumerable initiatives for the IPSI by being the lead functionary. Mani Shankar Aiyar, former Minister and MP, is the current Chairperson of the IPSI. Lt Gen Moti Dar, the former Vice Chief of Army, is the ongoing President of the IPSI India Chapter and Lt General Mohd Nasir Akhtar is the ongoing President of the IPSI Pakistan Chapter. Maj Gen TK Kaul is the Executive President of the IPSI India Chapter.

The IPSI was briefly hamstrung with the demise of Nirmala Deshpande, but trudged forward in its mission in spite of facing overwhelming odds. It is dedicated members like Gen TK Kaul, who underpin the success of the IPSI.

When India saw a violation of the LOC, and suffered terror attacks, Maj Gen TK Kaul, along with the IPSI chapters in India and Pakistan strongly condemned them while placating both sides. Even though the peace talks in both countries were vitiated by these provocations, the IPSI stayed firm and resolute in its mission, holding its lofty ideals of brotherhood and bonding.

A peace march was organized under the aegis of IPSI India chapter by Maj Gen TK Kaul in Mumbai, which saw representation from the IPSI Pakistan chapter. This march started at Nariman Point and ended at Mani Bhavan, the symbolic residence of the Mahatma.

With the IPSI growing from strength to strength each year, the families of their members from both countries have become close friends. They go across the border when the children of their counterparts get married. What can be a better example demonstrating maturity and brotherhood without boundaries?

yes they should Increase Effective firing range upto 700 m .................& it should also include 7.62×51mm NATO Cartridge like Colt CM901 .
weight of MCIWS is just 3.4 Kg as compare to 4.3 Kg of Colt CM901.

.

the Finishing in aluminum alloy looks Good but plastic used in the prototype of MCIWS looks cheap , they should Use Good quality carbon fiber/polymer....................

performance & looks both are important .................it will increase the confidence & moral of soldiers .
just look at the finishing of foreign riffles .

Firstly we should focus on gun .
And do modifications as army wants .
And make sure that MCIWS will be selected .

Media reports (ironically, even that from DRDO) on range are based on max. effective range using iron sights.
Vz.58 (reportedly) has range of 800m because it's sights allow adjustments up to that range.

We can easily achieve a point target range of ~600m with our current ammunition.

MCIWS/ INSAS etc have less (reported) effective range because our iron sight metering is kept only up to 500m/400m. I would think good iron sights with adjustments up to 700m should do the trick.

I would also like to bring back the charging handle to the side; I was watching a video where shooters preferred the side charger on SCARs/AKs because it allows the weapon to be cocked without the need to bring the it down (i.e. while keeping it aimed).
