The whole problem is in Ukraine. Macron and Scholz would gladly give it to Putin, as Daladier and Chamberlain gave Czechoslovakia in 1938. But Ukraine refuses to be the subject of bargaining.

I think both Russia and the West walked away with something. Russia probably got a verbal assurance that Ukraine would not be included in NATO and West got assurance that Russia would not invade. Crisis defused for the time being but not sure how much these assurances are worth. It's a ticking time for sure!
