It does matter.. The farther away the launch, the more time and attempts the defender gets to intercept the volley.. There are a limited number of vectors US has to monitor for an attack from Russia or China.. but, a US missile attack on Russia, can come from US territory, or allied territory, or allied seas..
Also, w r.t hypersonic weapons, Russia would have that much less time, to react to decapitation strikes from Ukraine or Estonia..
You sound like a tank duel, but when the missile enters the second stage, then
knocking it down is almost impossible. No matter its speed of approach to the target (hypersonic or supersonic). And Putin knows it. He's just lying.
There are many versions of why the Kremlin started this blackmail. And there is definitely no threat from NATO. Moscow knows very well that it has nuclear parity, so only a madman would dare to attack it. However, Russia itself is doing this. But Putin is not forever. Oil and natural gas are also not a stranglehold.
10 years ago, Ukraine consumed 45 billion cubic meters of n.gas. Now only 30. In 10 years the country will reach self-sufficiency and will support Moldova. You just have to hold out.
All of Europe will do this.

wouldn't your gas consumption be falling because your population and industry have (are) collapsed (ing)? Ukraine per capita energy useage has fallen from 61620 Kwh in 1990 to 32116 Kwh in 2011 to 21501 Kwh in 2019.

:) indeed, you are right. Europe is doing the same thing. collapsing population and deindustrialization.

More like holding out for a return to the dark ages. Least you are in a warm fertile place. Where I am will be a frozen borderline hell. It is gonna be so cold. :D

I don't have a thermometer to attach to the radiator and take pictures. There is light, there is warmth outside the window -3C.
Consumption has dropped because we are modernizing and saving.
When I lived in the USSR, I did not hear about insulated glazing. We didn't have energy-saving lamps in our apartment. Soviet household appliances consumed enormous amounts of electricity. And so in everything.
Of course, there is still a lot to be done, but there must be a desire and will to win.

The NATO threat argument by Putin is not of recent origin.. Putin spoke about it in 2008, about NATO expansion to Russian borders, when NATO offerred to include Georgia and Ukraine.. The same argument of Nuclear parity holds good for the Cuban missile crisis as well.. Then, why did the US take nuclear missiles in Cuba so seriously..?

Can you imagine there was a time when Putin wanted to join NATO.😉
The Cuban crisis is a confrontation between two ideological systems. This despite the fact that Cuba has decided to follow the path of socialism. What is the ideological system in Russia? The United States did not recognize Castro, and the Russian Foreign Ministry recognizes our elections.
Comrades Indians. Stop comparing these two conflicts. I am already sick of illiteracy.
There were indeed nuclear missiles in Cuba. Somewhere Putin saw American bases in Ukraine.
The conflict is artificial because Putin is confused. He thought to create a new state during the chaos in Ukraine, but our people did not support him.
In a family, the husband and wife often quarrel with each other, but the neighbor has no place in family disputes.

Is the communication systems already NATO compatible for AN-178-100R?
Certainly. We switched to NATO-compatible communications systems a long time ago. Moreover. Most of them are American Harris. There are also Turkish Aselsans and our developments. These are equally divided, because they have to be purchased, and Harris stations are included in the assistance program.
In 2014, Russia completely jammed the radio communications of our obsolete radios. I recall what I said. Prior to the Russian invasion, the army was financed on a leftover budget basis. Civilians believed that there were large Soviet reserves and that nothing needed to be modernized.

A challenge

Everyone knows Ukraine will be defeated. It is not if but how. Next phase will be if Russia can subdue it.that is where the west has greater interest, create a quagmire for Russia where their forces are held in CoIN operations. Like Pakistan has tied us since 1989 in kashmir.

Do not say GOP (гоп) until you can't jump (c).
Russian propaganda brought the President of Chechnya to the information front line.
They see that we are not afraid of them and decided to intimidate us with Chechen.
Do you know who "Orthodox Muslims" are? On May 2014 year, from the central square of Donetsk, the Chechens left to seize the airport. And various crazy grandmothers baptized them. Photos of corpses in the morgue of one of the hospitals in Donetsk can be found on the Internet.

You may put up resistance but to defeat them is far fetch. Not impossible though. From what I understand Russian challenge in Ukraine would be post defeating Ukraine on battlefield.

It risks high casualties with Ukrainian resistance guerilla type warfare, more sanctions. I don't think Russia has appetite for a conflict where casualty may run into hundreds.

They would like to fight something like Syria campaign from air with special ops. Unfortunately this will not be possible in Ukraine.

But I keep saying this bad peace is better than good war.

Russia has only an advantage at sea. There is hardly any in the air
I am not an aviator, but I will give my opinion. Aircraft are not needed in Ukraine. Helicopters - yes.
However, in order to gain an advantage in the air, let them first try to suppress our air defense. A belly-button will get untied from loading.

It's a two way street. Ukraine will not be a walk in the park for Russia. In fact if medieval Afghans shamed America I very confident the very patriotic Ukrainians will trash Russia in a very costly insurgency.

Problem is the U.S. is getting nothing done to prevent Russia's growth, Eventually the Germans will cave in with purchasing NS2 Gas screwing Ukraine even more from their current billion dollar gas transit deals to the point that it will be a country that might be even more poor than an African one since they are already 1st place in beating Kosovo as poorest country in Europe and that is not a joke either. They are working on the power to siberia gas plan to power Mongolia and China, setting up a gas line project for the middle east. Also thanks to Israel's paranoai of its surrounding neighbors they are blocking the UAE's plans for oil transfer to Europe which of course the Russians can take advantage of this by trading their Arctic oil to Europe because of course besides Ukraine and China there is also alot of shit going on in the Arctic that they are doing which barely gets mentioned on the news.

Europeans withdraw their support in funding the free syrian army leaving Turkey and the UAE as their current supporters because the thing is there was a proposed oil line project from the UAE to Europe but we all know whos involvement stopped this from happening.. And Venezuela for having a good amount of oil, a coup was stopped by Russia. Also Lavrov is scheduling a meeting with the Indians and Chinese to replace SWIFT and even want to propose a Quantum communication node project with the BRICS countries on trade relations for secure talks. If they are serious about invasions as everyone thinks they are it would be better for them to do it with a better economy like with their proposed plans than any day or month or year now.

They brought this on themselves, though. Instead of relying on the massive industrial and agricultural base the USSR left them with which would have helped them retain economic power vis a vis the other former USSR republics, they decided to believe in the whole neoliberal bullshit while whitewashing their nazi heroes and making up a glorious non-existant history of resistance and whatnot. Unlike Russia, Ukraine never left the Wild 90's mentality.

The Soviet reality was vastly better than the rotten oligarch toilet regime of today. People had it easy and they did not realize how good they had it. Those breadlines involved getting bread. Today there are no breadlines and millions can't afford the bread. The breadlines were not chronic and extreme in the USSR. We saw engineered shortages in the late 1980s as the oligarchs in waiting were setting up the system change coup. Food was deliberately prevented from reaching the shops and dumped in the forest or allowed to rot in railway marshaling yards. Ukraine has experienced the full progression of the coup and is an oligarch run toilet. But people can vote for parties and watch "independent" media so that means that they must be "free".

If the Soviet times were so good according to you why is there no popular demand in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, etc. not for return to Soviet style totalitarian system?

:creepy:
