The number of 3++ and 4th gen aircraft along with bombers in russian airforce is huge ... i lost count . I wonder how they manage to maintain that many squadrons of aircraft with such less defence budget ..

If NATO airforce does nt join with direct involvement there does nt seem to be a fair fight .

Yes, it will be hard. But we have strong air defense.
As for the combat effectiveness, I would not be so sure. Many brigades travel from across the Urals.
MiG-29 and Su-27 are 4th generation fighters.
The third generation is the MiG-21 and 23.
