But that leaves no landing craft. How do you land support vehicles and pallets without it?

It is because I think of logistics which is 9/10ths the game. You don't just land IFVs... they require support vehicles, light tacticals, trucks, bulldozers, ammo, food, ect. With no landing craft you don't have it and your troops die really fast.

That would be the case if the PLAN had only one Type 071, but there will soon be four of them in its inventory, heading the largest amphibious fleet of any Asian nation. There would hardly be a shortage of landing ships in any amphibious action considering that other than the 071's every major amphibious vessel in the PLAN has a well deck.
