reading the USDA foreign production reports.

Chinese farmers sure grow a lot of grain crops. Americans, Indians, Brazilians and Europeans all grow large amounts.
reports show production, yield, yield history and where grown
for 22/23 season totals (numbers I give are sum of all grains...kind of rounded off)
China 620 000 000 + tons (largest crop in 1000 tons, 277k corn)
US 520 000 000 + tons (348k corn)
India 315 000 000 + tons (132k rice)
Brazil 300 000 000 + tons (154k soy)
EU 270 000 000 + tons (134k wheat)
Russia 155 000 000 + tons (92k wheat)
.....
Canada 83 000 000 + tons (33k wheat)
.....

Define quality?

Link dysfunctional.
i think this article from Bloomberg needs subscription. but Chinese subcontinent study gave the full translation.

for the definition of quality, i think it means literacy, years of education, employment, rate of women employment, malnutrition, hunger index...

Chinese translation:

why are we talking about India in a Chinese economic thread?

or do you like to only bring up India when it’s convenient for your talking points

or is talking about india fair game on this thread?

pick a lane buddy, seems like you can’t make up your mind

Well given the 175 yrs of humiliation that you're suffering from, of which 74 yrs are under the CCP which they neglected to inform you about & which you were too dumb to infer, came the great purges under the great helmsman Mao after the civil War , followed by the 5 pests campaign, the great leap forward, the cultural revolution etc all of which collectively claimed anywhere between 50-100 million lives.

You think 40 yrs of unbridled material prosperity with the 1 child policy since revised twice this century to 2 & now 3 where the Chinese have forgotten procreation & prefer being unmarried or not coming up with kids if married or unable to find a spouse given the skewed & screwed gender ratios itself a by product of the 1 child policy under the same CCP is good enough to see you through for the rest of this century especially given how Xi is determined to get back Taiwan at any cost?

For perspective there's nothing you've done which we can't do in another 5-15 yrs ,give or take, in any field you may choose to cite for comparison. If China thinks it's merely a couple of decades behind the US & will catch up sooner than later, we've the same feeling as far you're concerned. India's today where you were in 2005 .

China is the top grain producer but it is also the only one on that list that is also a net grain importer.

The comparison with India is most interesting. China and India have the same population but China grows twice as much grain and it still imports more.

India on the other hand is a top exporter of grains. It is the number 1 exporter of rice and a top 10 exporter of wheat.

They both have problems. China has food security issues because it needs to buy so much grain and some of its biggest sellers are strategic rivals like the US:

While India needs to issue curbs on exports of grains!

China had already caught up and passed the US in total economic output many years ago. We see it in the consumption of everything from pork to cars to $2000 handbags. China buys more of everything than the US. And China has done this while it is still a developing immature economy with many more decades of growth.

India today still trails China in consumption for everything and by a huge margin. For example, China buys nearly 10 times more cars (and far more expensive cars -- Tata sells 80 TIMES more Landrovers and Jaguars in China than India.)

I think India has great future but the comparsion between China-US and India-China makes little sense.

China is a bigger economy than the US by most measures and makes and consumes more than the US. It is ahead or at least on par by most measures.

India on the other hand consumes a 1/10th of what China does.

I think cars illustrates China, USA and India the best. Last year China sold almost twice as much cars as the US. And China has a commanding lead on the cars of the future. China's top selling models are EVs which China controls the entire supply chain for.

China is a much bigger economy than the US by most measures.

India trails the China by many multiples and it is worse if you compare the types of cars it buys. Just as Tata sells 80 times more Landrovers/Jaguars in China so does Mercedes Benz and BMW.

China has more real wealth and consumes FAR more than the US. India consumes a 10th of China does across most measures.

It is easier for India to catch up to the US than China ;)

How many countries have done this as a developing nation? Japan and Korea were already matured and members of the developed nations when they began breaching the top five in patents.

China is leading the developed world -- and by a wide margin -- as a still immature economy with many years of growth left:

This is forward projecting. It shows China getting ahead in almost every field and the real advancement are still to come in the future!

Although China has made great progress,

But it will take a long time and hard work to catch up with America

The overall economy has caught up and surpassed the US.

China builds more and consumes more.

But it is still a developing country so China needs to catch up per capita.

That will take a long time. But it also means China will grow for a long time.

The key is China is already on par or passing the developed world in many areas of technology and science even now.

What happens when China is fully developed with per capita income on par with Shanghai or Hong Kong country-wide? Patents will likely triple or quadruple from today.
