Watching Infomentry on BSF Kutch Krocodiles on Zee News.

Half the soldiers carrying INSAS, the other half X95. Group Leader carrying MX4. All without magazines loaded. No visible sidearms.

What is the need for such curious mix of weapons?

No, BSF generally doesn't have their own hospitals. Yes, they can use army hospital and they generally do. But, depends upon which one civil/ military is nearest. And from the pic, you might know which one was.

The paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) aims to enter the "Limca Book of Records" by planting 180,000 trees along India's frontiers Tuesday, an official said.


"Over 10,500 BSF troopers would plant 180,000 trees in 30 minutes (10am to 10.30am) August 19 all along India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh," BSF deputy inspector general Bhaskar Rawat told IANS.

BSF Restores Flood-hit Border Posts, Fencing in Jammu

JAMMU: The six kilometre fencing and all 18 border posts damaged by floods on the international border in Jammu region have been repaired and restored, the Border Security Force (BSF) sources have told IANS. It must be recalled that the flood waters of the Tawi river had damaged 10 BSF border posts and the Chenab river had damaged four border posts in Jammu district while four were damaged by flood waters of Basantar river in the Samba district. Flashlights along the 190-km long international border in the Jammu region have also been made functional in 175 km stretch while restoration is going on in the remaining stretch of the border, same sources said. "In order to improve visibility along the border, we have contacted Pakistan Rangers and both sides have agreed to cut the tall wild grasses those have grown on the two sides of the international border", a senior BSF official said. It must also be mentioned that since the recent floods in the Jammu region, there has been no ceasefire violation along the international border and the line of control (LoC) in the Jammu region for 20 days. The BSF guards the international border while the army guards the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

नई दिल्ली। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने आज कहा कि आर्थिक विकास के लक्ष्यों को हासिल करने के लिए देश में शांति और सुरक्षा का माहौल जरूरी है और इसे सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सशस्त्र सेनाओं को अपनी पूरी तैयारी रखनी चाहिए। मोदी ने सशस्त्र सेनाओं के कमांडरों के संयुक्त सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि दुनिया भारत को नई दिलचस्पी, विश्वास और उत्साह के साथ देख रही है और विश्व को उम्मीद है कि भारत न केवल एक आर्थिक शकित के रूप में उभरेगा बल्कि क्षेत्रीय और वैश्विक सुरक्षा में भी उसकी अहम भूमिका होगी।

मोदी ने कहा कि मौजूदा चुनौतियों के साथ हम ऎसे भविष्य का सामना कर रहे हैं जहां चुनौतियों को भांपना आसान नहीं होगा। परिस्थितियां तेजी से बदलेंगी और तकनीकी बदलावों के कारण इन चुनौतियों से निपटना मुश्किल हो जाएगा। हो सकता है कि आप खतरे से वाकिफ हों, लेकिन दुश्मन दिखाई न दे। ऎसे में साइबर स्पेस में महारत जरूरी है। भूमि, वायु और समुद्र की तरह अंतरिक्ष का नियंत्रण भी निर्णायक हो सकता है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि हो सकता है कि पूर्णकालिक युद्ध की संभावना कम हो गई है और संघर्ष की अवधि छोटी होगी, लेकिन प्रतिरोध और प्रभाव के तौर पर सेना की भूमिका अहम है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत की सेना अपने पेशेवर रवैये, बहादुरी, प्रतिबद्धता, सेवा और कर्तव्य में दुनिया में किसी से भी कम नहीं है। सेना ने हमेशा देश की जनता के विश्वास को कायम रखा है फिर चाहे वह देश की सुरक्षा का मुद्दा हो या फिर प्राकृतिक आपदाओं में राहत और बचाव का।

संसाधनों के किफायती इस्तेमाल का अनुरोध करते हुए मोदी ने सेना को अपनी तैयारियों, अफसरों की कमी को पूरा करने और आधुनिकीकरण जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए सभी जरूरी संसाधन पूरा कराने का आश्वासन दिया। उन्होंने सशस्त्र सेनाओं सहित रक्षा प्रतिष्ठान से खरीद प्रक्रिया में सुधार करने और रक्षा साजोसामान के घरेलू स्तर पर विकास एवं उत्पादन में आ रही अडचनों को दूर करने को कहा। उन्होंने कहा कि सेना के लिए उसकी क्षमता सबसे अहम है और उसे अपनी तकनीक के उन्नयन के लिए गंभीरता से काम करना चाहिए। मोदी ने कहा कि तीनों सेनाओं को निचले स्तर से शीर्ष स्तर तक मिलकर काम करना चाहिए।
