Indian army order 250 more Arjun mk 1 a tank
Far better would be to spend that money on a deep upgrade program of the T-90S fleet to MS standards.Indian army order 250 more Arjun mk 1 a tank
Having 250 arjuns would be better than having no tanks at all.118+250 could also avoid spare part issue that plagued OG arjunIndian army order 250 more Arjun mk 1 a tank
But the question is - does the army actually need an extra 250 of these machines?? And can the fund be better spent on something else instead??Having 250 arjuns would be better than having no tanks at all.118+250 could also avoid spare part issue that plagued OG arjun
The fund can be spent on modernising the t90s .but ordering just 118 tanks is gonna become a massive liablity for us .But the question is - does the army actually need an extra 250 of these machines?? And can the fund be better spent on something else instead??

That I have to agree with. It'd have been more prudent for the Army to just abandon the Arjun project altogether if they were not confident in the design and therefore unwilling to place a large enough order for the ordnance factory to break even. The fund can be spent on modernising the t90s .but ordering just 118 tanks is gonna become a massive liablity for us .
It will not.. that issue will always remain there...Having 250 arjuns would be better than having no tanks at all.118+250 could also avoid spare part issue that plagued OG arjun
I don't believe that channelIt will not.. that issue will always remain there...
Well, he just said that it was the DRDO that's urging the Army to consider a repeat order, which is entirely possible.I don't believe that channel
Until now I am not able to find the source
Ignore this channel . They basically collect tweets and info from defence forums and put an artificial voiceover .. sometimes they repost info from other defence youtubers.I don't believe that channel

Do they need tanks .. yes but better armoured ones and futuristic. Should stop spending on new T-90s as well. Simply upgrade what we have first. But the question is - does the army actually need an extra 250 of these machines?? And can the fund be better spent on something else instead??
That's a given they will always urge , they are salesmen.Well, he just said that it was the DRDO that's urging the Army to consider a repeat order, which is entirely possible.
Yeah but we already have more than 1500 T-90S in active service which are in need of modernization. By the way, the T-90S actually has got better armor coverage than the Arjun MkIA.Do they need tanks .. yes but better armoured ones and futuristic.
That's what I said - i.e. upgrade them to MS standards.Should stop spending on new T-90s as well. Simply upgrade what we have first.
No, absolutely not!! Three crew members are the bare minimum. The new DRDO concept with 2 crew members should be extensively looked into
Better would be to collaborate with France or South Korea because they have actual experience in designing and building autoloader-equipped tanks.and Israel ( as Russia is sanctioned ) must be included as the cost is going to be too high for such projects on own. UK or any other European partner can also be explored which can provide technical expertise as well.
T-90s isn't better armoured than Arjun.... It is nicknamed Tin can for a reason. It is discussed extensively here.Yeah but we already have more than 1500 T-90S in active service which are in need of modernization. By the way, the T-90S actually has got better armor coverage than the Arjun MkIA.

By whom exactly - a bunch of ignorant 13-year-olds who have never come within even a hundred km of a tank?? Gimme a break. It is discussed extensively here.
Yeah, right, go tell that to all the major tank-manufacturing nations with half a century worth of experience under their respective belts.Nope 3 members aren't bare minimum new tech will remove the need for more crew that's what they need to explore.
Rest is fine..
Read about 2 crew Israeli Carmel Tank Project before jumping up and down. Here we go again. So you are one of 'those' guys, I should have known. Dude, Arjun is a fucking embarrassment on caterpillar tracks!! it belongs in a fucking museum as an example of what an utter failure looks like and to serve as an example of how not to design a tank, if we can even call it that.

If anyone's been jumping up and down is none other than your sorry self.Read about 2 crew Israeli Carmel Tank Project before jumping up and down.
Great. Now as I said before, go spread your newfound wisdom to the Americans, the Germans, the French, and the Russians. There was a time when there used to be 2-3 people throwing bombs and firing guns from a fighter jet with pilot. But then time changed. That's what is happening with tanks too .
A 60-ton Abrams has got more armor than the projected 120-ton E-100. Screw that, a 37-ton T-62 had better armor than a ~54-ton Centurion Mk9!! So fucking what?? It all boils down to design compromises. It simply goes to show how poor and fucking inefficient the design of the Arjun is.65+ Ton Arjun is lightly Armoured in comparison to T-90s... Well you need that break ..
Nope, the base-level T-90S is still better than the MkIA and it will remain as such unless the entire Arjun tank is redesigned, at which point, it will no longer remain the Arjun!!You can upgrade them but right now they are tin cans, if we didn't had them in numbers Arjun would have been better choice with improvement.
There is no new found wisdom... it has happened before and is happening now. Conveniently.... You ignored Carmel TankIf anyone's been jumping up and down is none other than your sorry self.

And what makes you believe that I haven't come across that project already?? Anyway, the Carmel is not even designated as a tank, it's just an AFV concept. It has got some novel design ideas but the 2 man crew part is not one of those. There is no new found wisdom... it has happened before and is happening now. Conveniently.... You ignored Carmel Tank
There is nothing to understand, nothing new at least.Instead of just reading to reply... Start reading to understand.
Wow!!Rest all is junk you can continue to feed on.
Then why Carmel called a tank/street-fighting tank ?? and yes its a AFV, with mbt like armour ??And what makes you believe that I haven't come across that project already??
