Contract finally signed in September 2021. 30 months for manufacturing and delivering 5 production standard prototypes to the Army. The army will then put these 5 prototypes to trial. After that they will give go ahead to manufacture the rest 113 MK1As.

And turret may also get changed by a new one.

Yes, you can say that. Similar procedure was followed in Arjun mk1 delivery. Thus the protracted timeline.

The MK1A production might take the entire decade (till 2030) to deliver. All this for just 118 tanks. Thus, even if any MK2 is produced and shown to Army right now(2022) and it miraculously passses the trials and order is given for a token 118 no., it will only begin production only in early 2030s, at the earliest.

As per recent IAH (19.2.2022) by Saurav Jha, he has ruled out Arjun mk2 prototype unveiling in Defence expo 2022. We can only expect ground displays of latest iterations of Arjun mk1A in this Defence expo, which we are seeing since 2014.

Final configurations keeps on changing, and will not be finalized till the 5 production standard prototypes are delivered to the Army by March 2024.

What's the update on dhanush last I heard is problems are resolved and production started
I could be wrong
And when will all Dhanush be delivered

Basically the main difference between a Smooth bore and a Rifled Barrel is that : A rifled barrel has lands and groves that cause the projectile to spin when it exists the muzzle (end of the barrel). A smooth bore is exactly how it sounds, smooth. A smooth bore has no lands and grooves present within its barrel.

I had read some sources on the internet with regards to this and it is said that in 2012 an indigenous 125 mm smooth bore gun developed by DRDO with a 'modified chemistry barrel' of the existing T-72 gun had gone into production having completed trials in 2010.

You can't be Serious! 30 months? That means 2.5 years just to deliver 5 Production standard Tanks to the IA? Also are the Gun, Engine and Transmission of the upcoming Arjun MK1A Indigenous or Imported?
