This part is ostensibly correct... AMCA's total payload is officially 6.5ton (same as single F414 MWF) on ADA brochures, of that 5t can be external.
It has quite small wings, unlike Rafale or ORCA concept.

I suspected it's to be a more dogfight oriented design, made for quick acceleration after a high-alpha thrust vectored turn bleeding speed.
Probably for the F414 variant, considering the fact that they have assumed that thrust of GE414 will also reduce to 90 KN in Indian conditions, which explains how they came up with the number of 180 KN for total uninstalled thrust for AMCA. But if this yardstick is being applied, it should be done for all aircraft. F15 will also not be able to maintain 212 KN of thrust in Indian conditions and accordingly its specs will go down. So effectively the slide is comparing F15 specs in American conditions vs AMCA specs in Indian conditions.

As for wing loading, the total wing area is not much different than that of F35 and is much higher than that of F16, both of which carry more external load. Ultimately, engine thrust is what is driving the payload here.

AMCA could fly undetected during dangerous missions

Published February 5, 2020 | By admin SOURCE: Anantha Krishnan M / MANORAMA ONLINE India’s inspiring attempt to develop a 5.5. generation, twin-engine, single-seater, multi-role fighter Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will enter a crucial phase with the detailed data generation process for making prototypes set to begin in the second half of this year. This state-of-the-art supersonic beast is expected to fly with loads of home-grown, gen-next weapons currently under development at various laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The aircraft that can be operated in manned, unmanned, stealth and non-stealth modes carries many advance technologies making it lethal and apt for dangerous missions. The sanction for the design phase was accorded in December 2018 with an allocation of Rs 400-crore plus after successful completion of conceptual design and feasibility. Ahead of this, Rs 90-crore plus was allocated for the feasibility study. The AMCA is being designed and developed Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). Sources privy to information about this highly-sensitive programme confirmed to Onmanorama that the design phase is nearing completion. The scientists have made few changes to AMCA design and are now focussing on fine-tuning plans ahead of wrapping up the design phase. In the next two to three months the design for AMCA will be completed. ADA plans to develop five AMCA prototypes and will be seeking the government approval towards the end of this year. The sanction will be critical for making the prototypes, flight-testing and configuration. While the final cost is still being worked out, the expected funding could be in excess of Rs 10,000 crore. The first few prototypes will be to check the stealth systems on board AMCA. Advanced technologies will be progressively introduced into the prototypes. AMCA will be embedded with the Diverterless Supersonic Intake (DSI) system that would give it more stealth and better performance in supersonic flight. “Futuristic weapons pack, including those capable of delivering high-energy hits will make AMCA a dreadful flying machine. It will carry cruise and many air-to-air missiles,” says a source. In non-stealth mode, there will be 10 weapon stations. With one mid-air refuelling, AMCA will be able to fly cover distances that are really long. The fighter has advanced active and passive sensors integrated with electronic warfare suit. Body-conformed antennas, flushed electro optical sensors and stealth features ensure that AMCA could fly undetected over dangerous territories. As reported by Onmanorama earlier, AMCA will be initially powered by a 90kN GE F414 engine and later by one with higher thrust of 110kN, which is yet to be developed. If all blocks fall into place, then the first AMCA prototype will fly by 2025. Features like suppression of enemy air defence (SEAD) and destruction of enemy air defence (DEAD), vehicle monitoring system (IVHM), serpentine air intake, infrared search and track (IRST) and missile approach warning system (MAWS) will make AMCA ideal for extended missions. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is backing the AMCA mission to the hilt with Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria tracking the developments closely. “The IAF’s keenness on AMCA is definitely pushing the project with renewed direction,” adds an official. At DefExpo2020, models of AMCA in stealth and non-stealth modes are being displayed at the DRDO stall.

Saare projects HAL ko deke satyanash ho jayega.
AMCA must be given to some pvt company like TATA, Kalyani group, L&T

Private companies building our ships are doing no better, Russian ones even worse... Without specific delay penalty clause inserted to deal, private companies are just PSU looking for more money.

Not a single FICV prototype yet, only SSS Defence & Kalyani/BharatForge are doing groundbreaking development work, rest are all screwdrivering rebranded foreign maal.

L&T is delivering all the ships within the given timeframe for the coast guard. Also they make the hulls of the Arihant class subs which is huge responsibility on its own.
Without any certain orders, how can one expect the pvt companies to pour a ton of money into R&D of projects like FICV.
All companies, regradless they are private or public, must be given defence projects with added delay penalty clause, otherwise these delays will continue on and on.

Plus the early delivery of the K9s. They're going to deliver the last 50 in one year.

The FICV program in my opinion is a volatile program. It was halt several times for various reasons. And there's still the possibility the IA just might do a AK203 and shortlist a Russian ICV. Let the requirements, protocols be clearly defined.

They never poured toilet paper worth of money into R&D lol & fabricated hull is not rocket science ---- material science is & that came from a govt institution in first place including fabrication techniques.

This indigenous ego needs to be thrown out... Pvt companies Ko mauka do... Joint venture banao foriegn companies ke saath... They will learn and acquire the necessary technology with time....
Waha porki #pkmkb sale 150 jf17 bna rahe h aur yaha sp21 nahi nikal raha h inse...
IAF Ko be aalag kism ki khujli h... Mig 21 se kaam chala lenge Magar Tejas inhe mini Rafael wale configuration me cheyea... Aur sare configuration should be present from the very first jet... Mki be jab induct hua tha to 2-d vectoring engine nahi tha usme... With time sare upgrade hue... Foriegn maal me sab chalta h Magar Tejas ke case me nahi...
Nahi ho Raha mk1a to bc 50 foc Tejas aur order kro... It's better than mig21 and production line will ramp up...

Giving MWF, AMCA entirely to HAL would be a recipe for disaster.

Notable changes in AMCA since we last saw her:

IMG_20200207_094316.jpg

  • DSI (obviously)
  • Wingtips back to older version, can't carry CCM.
  • Wing control surfaces different.
  • Compounded tail-fin leadingedge.
  • Modified tail-flap joint.
I think they widened the fuselage.
  • Possibly greater wingspan.
  • Flatter tail radar, engines farther apart.

But it will still carry only 4 Missiles in it's weapon bay.
