So that's natural physics & to counter that thrust has to be twice at Mach 1.5 compared to Mach 0.7, simple & the F119 engine is capable of doing that. Hence R&D of better engine continues, not just turbofan but variable cycle engine & Scramjet. In 1960s the SR-71 & YF-12 used J-58. They tested (& cancelled) XB-70 also. God knows what secrets USA is holding.So ideally an aircraft should supercruise beyond Mach 1.8 at least. The danger zone is 0.9 to 1.5
Drag does not stop the world to go into space or do R&D on hypersonic planes & missiles.
We civilian enthusisats are puny humans.
