don't keep high hope... they way it works here ... health workers will start asking for bribes shortly to inject vaccine , majority doctors / nurses are back in hospital with full force....so again shortage of manpower ....

I don't see how do we vaccinate 5 millions a day
.
Start asking? Lol

Where do you think all these wasted vaccines are going you really think such a high number of vacciness are being wasted.

Most of them are being sold some given to ghar wale relatives some to families etc.

Also i know of 2 confirmed cases where families caught covid after taking the vaccinnes not the very next day but a week or so after that one of the families is of my roommate poor guy is trying to return home but needs confirmation of college shutdown. They are lying about the cases here and going on doing their work. So many places like these exist the actual scale is much bigger than being reported.

I guess one has to take both the jabs and then stay at home for sometime only then there is hope of proper immunity.

Right . you understood it rightly. As per trials, the real immune response is after 2-3 week of taking vaccine... that too the booster dose which is second and here people are celebrating next day ....

Perhaps we should all be wearing masks in our homes also when near family members (and especially in shared areas like kitchen) to stop the virus from spreading in case we are carrying it. A thin surgical type mask or triple cloth mask should be sufficient. As the summer heat arrives, it will become more difficult to keep windows open, and since most transmission of this virus happens indoors, masking up inside our homes when around relatives and common areas might be a good idea.

^^^ using mask inside home makes sense if u know u r carrying virus.

A dear friend and colleague got positive results today for RT-PCR Test. he was asymptomatic for almost 7 - 8 days Which means he ended up infecting whole family including minor girls.. this is the sad part of this whole chinese shit...

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Statement by Dr. Harsh Vardhan

Union Cabinet Minister, Health and Family Welfare; Science and Technology; and Earth Sciences

“Deplorable attempts by some state governments to distract attention from their failures and spread panic among the people”

Posted On: 07 APR 2021 6:06PM by PIB Delhi

In recent days, I have seen with growing dismay a number of irresponsible statements from some State government functionaries in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. As these statements have the potential to mislead the public and spread panic, it has become necessary to put the record straight.

At a time when the country is witnessing a fresh wave of rising COVID-19 infections, I am alarmed to note the fact that many State governments have failed to take appropriate response measures and apply the lessons that the nation has learned over the past one year of handling this pandemic.

Most concerning of all are the statements being made by a section of political leaders asking to open up vaccination to everyone above the age of 18, or to drastically lower the minimum age criteria for vaccination eligibility. The Government of India has been frequently and transparently updating all the State governments about the demand-supply dynamics and the resultant vaccination strategy that has been adopted. In fact, the vaccination strategy has been drawn up after extensive deliberations and consultations in partnership with all State governments. The same has also been a matter of public record for several months now.

Nonetheless, it bears repeating that the primary aim of vaccination is to reduce mortality among the most vulnerable people, and enable the society to beat the pandemic. Accordingly, the world’s largest vaccination drive was launched in India with the first recipients being our healthcare personnel and front-line workers. Once this had progressed to a certain level, vaccination was opened up to further categories and is currently open to everyone above the age of 45 years. It is also to be noted that vaccination is completely free of cost for anyone getting vaccinated in government medical facilities.

So long as the supply of vaccines remains limited, there is no option but to prioritize. This is also the established practice around the world, and is well known to all State governments.

When states ask to open up vaccine supplies to everyone over 18, we must presume that they have done saturation coverage of healthcare workers, frontline workers and senior citizens. But the facts are altogether different.

Maharashtra has vaccinated just only 86% of health workers with first dose. The equivalent numbers for Delhi and Punjab are 72% and 64%. On the other hand, 10 Indian states/UTs have done more than 90%.

Maharashtra has vaccinated just 41% of healthcare workers with second dose. Equivalent numbers for Delhi and Punjab are 41% and 27%. There are 12 Indian states/UTs that have done more than 60%.

Among frontline workers, Maharashtra has vaccinated only 73% with first dose. Equivalent numbers for Delhi and Punjab are 71% and 65%. There are 5 Indian states/UTs that have already done more than 85%.

Vaccination of frontline workers with second does for Maharashtra is at 41% For Delhi and Punjab, these numbers are 22% and 20%. There are 6 Indian states/UTs that have done more than 45%.

When it comes to senior citizens, Maharashtra has vaccinated just 25%, Delhi has vaccinated 30% & Punjab has vaccinated only 13%. There are 4 states/UTs that have already vaccinated more than 50%.

Doesn’t it seem evident that these states are trying to divert attention from their poor vaccination efforts by just continuously shifting the goal-posts? Politicizing such a public health issue is a damning indictment of certain political leaders who should know better.

In particular, I have seen statements made by public representatives in Maharashtra about shortage of vaccines. This is nothing but an attempt to divert attention from Maharashtra government’s repeated failures to control the spread of pandemic. The inability of Maharashtra government to act responsibly is beyond comprehension. To spread panic among the people is to compound the folly further. Vaccine supplies are being monitored on a real-time basis, and State governments are being apprised regularly about it. Allegations of vaccine shortage are utterly baseless.

Throughout the last year, as the Health Minister of India, I have been a witness to the misgovernance and utter casual approach of Maharashtra Government in battling the virus. The lackadaisical attitude of the state government has singularly bogged down the entire country’s efforts to fight the virus.

We, in the central government, have regularly counselled the Maharashtra state government, made them available all resources and sent central teams for help. However, the lack of efforts of the part of the state government is now clearly visible and come to haunt us all.

Today, Maharashtra not only has the highest cases and deaths in the country but also has one of the highest test positivity rates in the world! Their testing is not up to the mark and their contact tracing leaves a lot to be desired.

The performance of Maharashtra government in terms of vaccinating healthcare workers and frontline workers is also not great. It is shocking to see how the state Government is putting Maharashtrians in danger by letting people escape institutional quarantine mandate for the sake of their personal Vasuli. Overall, as the state has lurched from one crisis to another, it seems as if the state leadership is happily sleeping at the wheels.

Maharashtra Government needs to do a lot more to control the pandemic and the Central Government will help them in all possible ways. But focusing all their energies on playing politics and spreading lies to create panic is not going to help the people of Maharashtra.

Similarly, we have seen regular comments by leaders from Chhattisgarh that are intended to spread misinformation and panic on vaccination. I would like to humbly state that it would be better if the state government focusses its energies on ramping up their health infrastructure rather than on petty politicking.

Chhattisgarh has seen disproportionately higher number of deaths in the last 2-3 weeks. Their testing remains heavily dependent on rapid antigen tests which is not a wise strategy.

The state Government in fact refused to use Covaxin despite it being given Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the Drug Controller of India. Not only this, by its actions, the leaders of the state government have the dubious distinction of being perhaps the only government in the word to have incited vaccine hesitancy.

Many other States also need to bring their healthcare systems up to the mark. For example, quality of testing needs to improve in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat. In Punjab, high Case Fatality Rate needs to be improved by early identification of those needing hospitalization. Mask-wearing and social distancing compliance are slack in a large number of States. There is a lot that needs to be done, and we must do it all with speed and at scale.

I am constrained to speak out now because my silence should not be misconstrued for weakness. Playing politics is easy, but improving governance and health infrastructure is the real test.

I would again like to stress to all States that the Central Government is doing everything it can to help them. India has the unique advantage of having talented scientists and doctors and hard-working healthcare workers. All of us need to work hard and work together to defeat this pandemic. Let us not squander the gains we have made and focus on our solemn public duty. We owe the citizens of India nothing less.

i think some blind haters should now calm their mind and stop their verbal diarrhoea . Fucking shit states have not even used the vaccines allocated to them so far and here people are shedding crocodile tears about some small vaccine given to third world countries whose population won't even match the 1 LS seat in Mumbai or Delhi . Seriously vaccine given to Guyana and Trinidad are not going to starve our population from vaccines .

Mudi kaka is the problem he is been dying for that nobel prize since so long that he is ready to sacrifice the biggest demography of this country just for one fucking prize from some shit hole in Scandinavian country

First spread relentless propaganda about vaccine saying no data no laura lahsan we need transparency bla bla and then create so much fear in the population now even doctors are not even ready to take vaccines . Oh getting MBBS is not guarantee that they also get their common sense activated all the time which we can see from some medical professionals too .

Now suddenly same morons are crying oh the vaccine which we never trusted is being given away to some third world country because someone wanted Nobel .

Blind hatred always makes you blind to any facts which make common sense . no wonder i see that getting displayed here very generously by few .

Fatalities haven't caught up yet as compared to last year.

Supposed shortage of Remdesivir in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra is a little worrying.

Any daily numbers of post vaccine infections?

Hearing a good number of infections are of post vaccine (first dose in most cases) individuals who threw their masks away and celebrated like it was a rebirth of sorts.

Lot of confessions by Docs about getting infected after 2nd vaccine.

A doc couple from Bangalore traveled to Mumbai after their 2nd vaccine, were careless and got infected. Had to be admitted with onset of pneumonia and breathing difficulty. Ample proof, Covid is not to be messed with.. before or after vaccine no matter how strong your immune system is.

There is a doc in my apartment who got infected despite taking the 2nd vaccine. She had stopped wearing a mask, was careless.. luckily for her, she managed with home quarantine. Scores of such cases here in Bangalore.

That depends on age and immune system also. Remember covid vaccine will prevent death 99% of time but doesn't mean that you will not suffer 14 days of Covid. Get that right.

-They shouldn't have given away so many vaccines for free when we had so many surging cases. Hero banana ke chakra me gand mar gayi. Modi kaka has a bad habit of scoring brownie points at the cost of our own well being.
-Not providing enough help to SII and BB for expansion
-Not pressuring babus enough.
That time everyone thought covid is gone .. Even health workers dint want to be vaccinated . There is expiry date to vaccines .

From anecdotal evidence in Mumbai, every family who was safe in 2020 have now been hit by the virus in last 2 weeks. Full families are testing positive. I suppose this is due to new double mutant virus which started here.

The new variant has started showing in Punjab Delhi Gujrat. There will be a new peak for them.

India will go through 3 months of lakhs of cases per day like US went from December till Feb. Vaccination on a war footing is the need of the hour.

If you thought you survived 2020, you are very wrong. Brace yourself for summer 2021, this is the most important time. Get elders vaccinated anyhow fast. That will increase their chances of survival.

I was hit with covid when Total cases in India were just reached 100000 way back in May 2020. Today the time is even worse than it was then way back.

Of course. Vaccine only improves your odds of surviving a covid infection.

Prevention is largely up to the individual but with community spread, Covid would be hard to dodge.

I had shared my experience would be buried deep. But it started with loss of taste and smell which was not even an indicator of covid in India but in UK. That helped me identify covid and got isolated immediately. My family was saved due to this.

Fever, diarrhea, weakness lasted for 15 days.

Had standard medication of Dolo, Vitamin tablets and all ghar ke nuske.
