"How the brits Became One of the Poorest Countries in europe: Britain chose finance over industry, austerity over investment, and a closed economy over openness to the world."

"The uk., the first nation to industrialise, was also the first to deindustrialise. Britain gave rise to the productivity revolution that changed the world, and now it has some of the worst productivity statistics of any major economy."

“Take out Greater London—the prosperity of which depends to an uncomfortable degree on a willingness to provide services to oligarchs from the Middle East and the former Soviet Union—and the UK is one of the poorest countries in Western Europe,” says economic analyst Matt Klein.

"Having offshored industry in favor of finance, its economy wasn’t resilient. The resulting erosion in living standards made the public desperate for something to blame. Blame-seeking conservatives spotted bogeymen abroad.""The U.K. manufacturing industry has less technological automation than just about any other similarly rich country. With barely 100 installed robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers in 2020, its average robot density was below that of Slovenia and Slovakia.""One analysis of the U.K.’s infamous “productivity puzzle” concluded that outside of London and finance, almost every British sector has lower productivity than its Western European peers."

Bravo ⁦@RishiSunak⁩! Pledges to crack down on Pakistani “grooming gangs” that rape & indoctrinate young British girls. No more “political correctness”, he says. Task force will “record ethnicities” & hand “life sentences” to these criminals with “no parole”.

Welcome back saarrr

But by the time we rach near the target it will be well around $4400 which would mean we would be upper middle income country only by 2029-30.
We surpass UK in gdp. Now go to any UK city it's feel like they are rich. If we look our city, it feel like poor environment. Per capita income wat matters most.

Why we compare, we need to be best
You compared to UK? Not all cities in UK look good. Industrial areas and previous manufacturing towns look like dumpyards. This kind of idea that everything in the west is great is why people pay smugglers huge money to get over there only to find that many things are worse than in India.

everytime i see any UK related non-propaganda videos, what catches my eye is the number of payday loan shops in every street, especially outside of london. perhaps there is an economy related structural weakness in that country.

Lot of people think because pound is strong, UK's economy must also be on strong footing. They couldn't be more wrong. UK being a major country in Europe has the lowest share of manufacturing as a percentage of GDP. Where is UK in this graph?

Out of 44 countries UK doesn't figure even in top 30 in manufacturing while countries such as Slovakia, Romania rank higher. Even Baltic states rank higher than UK.

Look where is UK in that list. UK has become deindustrialized to a great extent. Brexit will give a knock out blow to whatever left in manufacturing in the coming years. The average salary in the UK is 30,000 pounds. Outside of major cities like London, Manchester, Liverpool UK is literally a shit show. Even their cities is really fucking boring compared to Germanic countries like Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Austria etc.

Look at this crap.

Normally that is how things are outside of London and major economic centers. I have been to Duisburg in Western state of NRW in Germany which is considered as poor and crime infested hellhole. Yet this was still better than many UK cities in terms of infrastructure and housing. UK has somewhat transitioned in to service economy. This has led to UK becoming one of the biggest tax heavens in the world which their rich elite in politics has encouraged. The country is more or less made for the rich. They basically have a class system. If you don't have contacts in higher echelons of their society or someone who have studied in Oxbridge you are most likely aren't climbing the economic ladder.

Looks fake turkey is on the top of this list
No, makes sense. Turkey is a smaller economy. That might have inflated it's percentage. However, I checked for contribution of share of industries as a percentage of GDP, UK is ranked even lower at 38.

found some interesting bit of info on UK power generation.

44% of their power supply comes from wind, somehow i never thought of wind as reliable power source, but apparently it is.

hardly any coal based electricity generation at this point in time.

Did you also considered the fact that UK is a chain of islands?
