Yes but you don't make your radar 80% smaller. You feed more power to the the same size radar to have an upper hand against your enemy with your higher range(50%) radar to kill without being seen.(I'm leaving the cooling issues out of discussion)

thanks but framing these developments in terms of religious identity wouldn't be right. we're a secular state with explicit clauses in the constitution state this fact and many people who are proud and participated in these projects do not conform to these beliefs.

What is this childish comparison with turkey?? Because they have a prototype out?? Where is the real tech ?? GaN aesa , actual irst podes / dcmaws ?? Where is ew suite?? Where is internal bay and folding mechanism?? Where is material for stealth skin?? Where are composits and what percentage??

We have developed all these things in one form or another and putting them to actual tests currently while simultaneously running 4-5 fighter jet programs ( mk1a , mwf ,amca and tedbf).

If we merely wanted to show off we could have launched such a prototype years ago.
IAF rejected su57 because of lacking in stealth AMCA has to surpass that in real world even if takes more time.

AMCA was taken seriously only after 2018 when India formally left Su-57 program. TFX has been actively funded for longer.

Turkey is a part of NATO. Their sovereignity is secured by the US. So they can priorities these projects.

Where as we in India have to make our own Nuclear Bombs & SSBNs to carry them. Our funds are too much stretched into too many sectors.

IDK why does it hurt you when Turkey is called an Islamic State. It surely wasn't a secular move to turn Hagia Sophia into a Mosque.

The foreign policy of Turkey screams alignment with the cause of the Islamic world. Taking stand against countries as per their religious demographic.

35.000+lb engine(wet thrust). The timelines are not official and may slip but here's what I gathered from listening to the interviews of the CEOs since years,
First ignition: 2026
Aircraft integration: 2028
Entry into service: 2030+

Mind you, these are not official and subject to change. On a related note; we're expecting GÖKBEY helicopter to fly with TS1400s in the coming months and TF6000 to make its first ignition this year, followed by TF10000 closely after that.

It's a trainer with light fighting capacity .... Look at it and F-5 that's what it is going to replace.

We have Tejas Mk1a then mk2 and series coming up. Do let me know how it can better Tejas mk2 or the older Tejas mk1/1a.

They are part of NATO, have advantage due to proximity with European.

It is all about the lobbies. One smart thing that the Turkish government did was to emphasize defense as an industry and eliminate anyone lobbying for foreign weapons. Turkey's aspiration is to return to the position it held during the Ottoman era. Indian aspirations are not to become a power but to simply have peace around and keep the family institution going without any insulation from external aggression.

This short-sighted thinking strategically is due to the pacifist attitude and disinterest in the defense industry. Whatever we have developed is because of the aggressive follow-ups and vision of the PM, the Home Minister, and the former Defense Minister the late Mr. Parrikar.

The Indian government, no matter how nationalistic, will always have a focus on social development and freebies rather than military aspirations. It's how the post-1947 Indian psyche is designed. Do not expect a proactive militarization of the mindset of Indian bureaucrats and ministers. The only way this is going to change is if China invades us and the PMO is forced to discard the IAS and rely on military generals. Once the military has some tangible success in such a conflict, the government will only then militarize.

Stronger, self-reliant military = greater limelight for the forces compared to the bureaucracy. Therefore the IAS ecosystem ensures that the defense remains hobbled and the military doesn't get more light than necessary.

Given how anti-militaristic the Indian establishment is, it's a miracle that we did not disband all indigenous projects before 2014.
