Indian Air Force and Russian Federation Air Force (RFAF) pilots fly in an IAF Su-30 MKI during Ex Avia Indra-I Phase-II at Air Force Station Halwara on 24 Nov 14.
This states a lot!

A hint is more than enough I would imagine on the level of integration between the 2 forces. India and Russia have long moved to a much higher level of cooperation, apparently the word is, if and when the need arises, the personnel and equipment are ever ready to be used by both in each others' countries.

Integration of air-based cruise missile with Su-30MKI fighter completed in India | Russia & India Report

INTEGRATION OF AIR-BASED CRUISE MISSILE WITH SU-30MKI FIGHTER COMPLETED IN INDIA

Integration of the air-based version of the BrahMos-A supersonic cruise missile with a fighter jet of the Su-MKI family has been successfully completed in India, an official at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) state aircraft manufacturing corporation told TASS on Tuesday.

Several key structural changes have been introduced in the missile and the jet over the past seven to six months, including re-distribution of loads on the lifting elements of the aircraft after the bench running. The project's Managing Director S. Subramanyan told TASS in this connection the Russian side had provided a whole team of technology consultants, who resolved one of the most complex tasks the accommodation of the 9-meter-long missile by altering the configuration of the fuselage.

First trial tests that will make it possible to assess the results of more than two years of joint work of Russian and Indian designers will be held in March. Preparations of a second fighter jet for trial testing will begin right after the March test flights. Plans suggest that the works involving it will take about a year.

In the future the same pattern will be applied to 42 Su-30MKI jets of the Indian Air Force.

In October 2012, the Indian government's security committee endorsed allocation of $ 1.1 billion for purchasing 200 BrahMos missiles to be installed on Su-30MKI fighters of the Indian Air Force. To make the integration successful, the weight of the air-based version of the missile was reduced by 500 kilograms and the length, by about 50 centimeters.

ROSTEC OFFERS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS UPGRADE FOR INDIA'S SU-30MKI FIGHTERS

Rostec Offers Communication Systems Upgrade For India's Su-30MKI Fighters

Russia's United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC) has offered to upgrade the communications systems modules of the Su-30MKI fighters.

A press release from Rostec, the parent company of UIMC said that presentations will be made to the Indian air force and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) during the Aero India show in Bangalore. "The sides will discuss the possibility of upgrading the communication equipment of the Su-30MKI Indian fighter jets and outfitting potential Russian-Indian aircraft such as the FGFA fighter jet and the MTA transport aircraft ."

"Our Asian partners immediately expressed interest in several models of Russian technology," said Sergey Skokov, Deputy CEO of UIMC. "First of all, we have one of our latest developments for export, the S-112 aviation communication system, which provides a new level of data transmission efficiency. In addition, we are presenting in India the NKVS-27 system for multi-voice communication and information exchange between command posts and tactical aircraft." In addition, the AT-E aviation information exchange terminal will be displayed.

The NKVS-27 system can be used for communication between aircraft command points and the Su-30MKI fighter jet, the Ka-31 helicopter, and the FGFA and MTA airplanes.

The S-404 communication system features an integrated antenna system designed for the Ka-62 helicopter and other types of civilian aircraft. In comparison with similar products, the system has improved quality and range of communication.

The system adheres to all international standards regarding radio communication equipment, including signal reception for selective calls.

ROSTEC TO PROVIDE AVIATION EQUIPMENT & MAINTENANCE SERVICES TO THE INDIAN AIR FORCE

The Aviation Service Center (ASC), Aviation Equipment, a member of Rostec Corporation, received registration from the Air Force of India. This gives the Holding the opportunity to participate in tenders for the supply of parts, components and assemblies, and the maintenance and repair of the Indian air fleet. The document is valid for three years and may be extended.

Among the products that ASC will provide will be for repairs and the component base of the An-32 transport aircraft and the Ilyushin Il, as well as Mil helicopters (Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171B, Mi-25/Mi-35), according to a press release from the Holding.

At the meeting held with representatives of the Indian Air Force and the CEO of ASC Oleg Vasiliev, representatives of agencies confirmed that they are ready to cooperate with the Aviation Equipment, OJSC. In addition, the Holding is the only possible supplier for the equipment that the Indian aircraft need. Currently, the Indian Air Force is discussing the possibility of concluding with the Holding a long-term contract for the supply and maintenance and repair of components for the next 3-5 years.

"In the near future, the Indian Air Force should specify its needs and send them to us," said CEO of Aviation Equipment, OJSC, Maxim Kuzyuk "They recognize that no one other than us today can supply them with this specific equipment. By entering into a contract with the same holding company, they receive guaranteed timing and quality prices from the manufacturer of their products."

According to Maxim Kuzyuk, in terms of geographic expansion, the ASC will actively work to develop its ties not only in India but also in the whole of East Asia and the Pacific. Now both sides are working on the issue of cooperation on long-term contracts. These documents can be signed in the first half of 2015.

Caution - let us not make this a mainstream missile discussion, as that is not the topic of this thread.

What was part of the overhaul package ?

Saar, during overhaul, teh aircraft undergoes stripping to skeleton level, checking and reconditioning of each and every repairable component, incorporating more than 600 modifications, replacing the non-repairable defective/life expired components and finally rebuilding it to original configuration of latest standard of Su 30 MKI aircraft. More than 10000 lines of unique part numbers, amounting to nearly 75000 quantities are processed, reconditioned, repaired, overhauled and assembled back on the aircraft. After successful testing of various systems on ground and in air, as per stipulated flight profiles, the aircraft is certified to fly for next assigned TBO life. At present, the TTL (Total Technical Life) of the aircraft is 6000 hrs/25 years. Overhauling process starts when aircraft along with document is received in ARS (Aircraft Receiving Section), incoming test are performed and de-painting of total structure is done.
Aircraft is virtually dismantled
During aircraft dismantling, major components such as engines, wings, control surfaces are dismantled first and detail dismantling to remove various aggregates/pipelines, flight control rods /bell cranks, fabricated and standard parts etc. are carried out thereafter. The parts dismantled and pre- surveyed are sent to the concerned overhaul shops for further operations/processes. Aggregates of various systems such as mechanical system, landing gear system, aircraft armament system, aeronautical equipment system, electrical systems, avionics systems are overhauled to give it new TBO life. Broadly, the procedure involved are dismantling, fault finding, part reconditioning/replacement, assembly and testing. onlee *sigh*

IRKUT to Conclude Indian Su-30MKI Kit Deliveries in 2015

IRKUT Corporation of Russia will complete deliveries of Su-30MKI aircraft kits to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) during 2015, the Russian company said in a press release. In total, IRKUT Corporation will have delivered 222 aircraft kits for assembly at (HAL) Nashik plant. Currently HAL is in Phase IV of assembly which means it is manufacturing parts from the raw material stage with complete transfer of technology from IRKUT Corporation, the release added. Indian media reports have said that the final deliveries of the assembled aircraft could be delayed by 1-2 years beyond the 2017-18 timeframe. However, the statement from IRKUT raises the hope that the delivery of the aircraft from HAL to the Indian Air Force may keep its schedule. India and Russia signed a deal on the licensed production of 140 Su-30 MKI aircraft, 920 engines and 140 sets of airborne equipment in 2000. These aircraft were to be delivered by HAL in four phases by 2017-18 with each phase progressively increasing the level of indigenization. However, in March 2006, the Ministry of Defence advanced the delivery of these aircraft to 2014-15 to counter a sharp fall in combat aircraft available, due to crashes and obsolescence. The Indian MoD placed an additional order for 82 aircraft with HAL, taking the total number of indigenously produced aircraft to 222, to be delivered between 2002-03 and 2016-17. Some 150 aircraft have been delivered till 2014.

Those are older Su-30ks without canards, that you're talking about.
Su - 30 MKI have canards and the ones without the canards were the first 2 batches of Su 30 MK's which we got for evaluation and subsequently returned back to Russia with feedback from IAF to Indianisation!
Now those older Su 30 MK's were exported to Angola if I am not mistaken!

Ready To Fly: Su-30MKI With BrahMos-A At #AeroIndia

Here's the BrahMos-A air-launched supersonic cruise missile on one of two modified IAF Su-30 MKI fighters on display this year at Aero India. As I reported last month, the BrahMos is all set for its first flight in March. Not a moment too soon. The Indian Air Force, which placed an order for 216 BrahMos-A missiles in 2012 wants 42 of its Su-30s to deploy the BrahMos. HAL, involved in the modification of two airframes at its Nashik facility, will conduct the structural mod, reinforcement and additional avionics/software coding in cooperation with Sukhoi Design Bureau.
