no changes just talks of using a square nozzle ass for next time on possible future modifications with the 3 stream cycle engine.
If square nozzles are introduced in the Su-57 then we can expect the IR signature of the engines to greatly reduce, at the cost of reduced thrust. I think Russians won't mind compromising a bit on thrust for reducing the IR signature and overall RCS of the Su-57 "felon". The Su-57 is being projected as a fifth generation Stealth fighter, and it needs to be made as stealth as possible. Also IIRC, the intend to include these flat nozzles in the S-70 Okhotnik Stealth drone which is intended to act as a wingman meant to operate in conjunction with the Su-57.

The Indian Airforce will never go for the Su-57, from now onwards it's only the AMCA or nothing else. We left the FGFA program in 2018, we won't turn back towards making the same mistake again, frankly speaking, Russian technology is rather outdated and not upto the mark of modern standards. If India wants the Su-57, we will go for an off the shelf purchase of one or two squadrons because in the coming years, we won't be importing anymore aircraft, we will fulfill our requirements by programs such as TEDBF, AMCA, Tejas MK-2 (MWF) etc.

There's an upcoming war with China before the decade ends or early next decade. Of that you can be sure. The only FAs in our inventory which can stand up to the PLAAF especially the J-20s are the Rafales of which we've procured only 36 whereas we need at least 90 nos of them if not more to effectively engage the Chinese.

Then there's the MKI whose conversion into Super Sukhoi standards we're undertaking at our own unhurried pace of which initially only some ~ 84 nos will be upgraded , that too around 2027-28 .

We need those Su-57s in 2-4 squadrons on a yesterday's basis presumably off the shelf with the same standards as that the RuAF will be receiving & not the monkey models we are used to receiving in the past which in itself is tricky for Russia may not be amenable to it & to complicate matters ever since their Ukraine adventure they're at the mercy of the Chinese which gives the latter some sort of veto power over the Russians . To what extent , time will tell . It's either that or the F-35s.

Well the Su-57 is a joke, so it's out of the equation. It's 4/4.5gen aircraft being marketed as 5th gen, where in the past we have seen that Russian weapons do not possess the capability that Western weapons do in terms of electronics and electronic warfare.

AMCA is the best bet if it is to be capable in terms of electronics, airframe and other matters, if not that then get ready to shill out the $$$ for F-35. Sooner or later we will buy a 5th gen aircraft

It's for the IAF to evaluate the Su-57 & reach a conclusion not you & me with our limited knowledge & experience.

The only issue here is time of which we don't have much. Moreover the definitive Su-57 version would be the one they're testing right now with the Stage -2 TF namely the Izdeliye TF which should be certified for operations same time by 2025 at the latest.

Post that we'd know whether the IAF is interested in the Su-57 or not. In the meanwhile if Russia is serious which I'm sure to they are , they'd be providing detailed briefings to the IAF of the latest status of the Su-57 at regular intervals. I wouldn't even rule out evaluations conducted by IAF technical teams & pilots flying these birds for the IAF to get a better understanding of the Su-57.

What needs to be taken into account is if we go in for the Su-57 it'd be only to tackle China & has to be procured within this decade. Otherwise we've no use for it . Ideally we should be getting at least 2-3 squadrons on the Su-57 if not 4 off the shelf with the same configuration as that of the RuAF & not the monkey models they used to peddle us , 5-6 squadrons of the Rafales including the Rafale M & at least 160 + nos of MKI upgraded to our version of the Super Sukhoi standards by 2030.

But having seen our services over the years even if we achieve half of it by 2030 it'd be a monumental achievement.

I think the first squadron could be ready this year or next year. 18 serial planes are almost all delivered. IOC is achieved when the first squadron is operational.

Rafale can potentially counter J-10C which is in the same class. J-20 is a whole different generation and a whole different beast. J-20 is F-22 class.

Apologies if already posted before, but hey! Here it is anyways!

1. Su-57 on static display at MAKS Airshow.

2. Scale models of Su-57 alongside MiG-35, MiG-29 etc at the Sukhoi exhibition stall.

PS: The above pics of the scale models I have posted could be from any airshow, I can't say for 100% that they are all from MAKS. In Aero india, Russia's Sukhoi had displayed a scale model of the Su-57 too. For some reason I am in love with the pixel/digital style color scheme (is that what it is called? I call it that).

At this stage, the best bet realistically speaking is a jet flying rather than a concept. I rest my case

sure, feel free to rest it, lol
What makes you say that Su-57 is a 4/4.5 gen fighter plane when J-20 has worse stealth characteristics than the Su-57 plane and its engines are not as powerful as the engine than Su-57 and you have no problem calling the J-20 a 5th generation fighter?

You say that. But a localized an customized Su-57 might get selected in the heavy category to replace Su-30 MKIs in service in future. You never know with the IAF.

Plain anti-russian rhetoric. They would have no qualms praising F-35 despite its non combat record.
In regards to AMCA it's still a concept, we day in day out lambast Russian weaponry, but without it Indian armed forces would be fighting with sticks and stones.
Even after ukraine fiasco, these people have the gumption to go gaga over dud western systems. (overpriced and overengineered)

After IAF backed out of FGFA why are we even discussing this . They caused problems with modifications from our side . The IAF isn't going to accept the basic ass electronics that the Russians offer .
A d if we have a brown dhoti moment with cheen it will me f 35 s that will be considered not su57 . .. ffs the Russians don't even have it in good numbers yet.
