Ummm... I am sorry. But Srilankan Tamils have little to no say in the scenario, and they are irrelevant. It is the Sinhalese who are the overwhelming majority people who would have the say if such union is even under consideration.

Problem is, the outcome will be military junta ruling over the island and that never is a good idea, especially when the military leadership has had a close relationship with the govt that has been responsible for ruining the country in the first place.

Sarath Fonseka is the former army chief there and is a favored candidate against the Rajapaksas. People like him there, so chances are that he might contest elections and come up.

Things are intensifying in Sri Lanka as Lankan mobs are teaching the politicians a lesson by lynching their MPs. Full support for their action to make the politicians feel the pain, but it is not going to get them anywhere in terms of resolving the issue.

They badly need someone in the finance ministry. That Ali Sabri guy who was selected as the Finance Minister has no clue and Nirmala Sitharaman is stepping in to handle the IMF negotiations with folks from our Ministry of Finance. Though Mahinda Rajapakse has resigned, if order is not restored, Sri Lanka could descend into a civil war.

There were some insane rumours about their president requesting for our military to step in and restore order a few days back (WION made a passing remark about it as it was not verifiable).

Then it's not a good thing. I have listened to a few of his talks and he seems like a rational man. If you guys don't back him, this is going to get messy. Rajapaksas or even the opposition will find another puppet and continue ruling.

This is your Young Turks Movement - don't let it go waste. It is times like these that lay the foundation of powerhouses. Singapore did it in the 70s and now is your chance. Get someone who can take hard decisions and become an electoral autocracy under such a ruler.

Any other good alternatives to Fonseka? I don't know much about Lankan politicians.

He's not the guy. He's more ruthless than any politician today. He's only concerned about revenge and stuff.

I think Sajith is the best alternative as he have the strongest team to lead the country including Fonseka.
