Viv Krishnan from SSSD requested me to forward this message,

Someone that I know mentioned that there are guys who keep repeating that we copy LMT and have a JV with them. Whilst weā€™re suckers for belittling our own achievements, this piece of news has to be debunked. There is no JV with LMT nor is there a ToT. Another complaint is that we use 3rd party parts - absolutely yes. We have in the past used Bushmaster stocks, u know that the ATI buttstock is being used, the mags we use come from CAA, Magpul, MDT etc. Grips are a piece of cake to buy since thereā€™s nothing great about them. But pls understand that everybody does that. Find me somebody whoā€™s stupid enough to make it all. However, the chassis, action, trigger, stock design, knowledge of head spacing etc on our sniper systems is entirely proprietary. If u can, pls clarify these. Anyway, we canā€™t be expected to make everybody happy about what we are. Same holds true in our auto weapons and upgrades.

And Regarding the change in the Buttstock of the P72,

So, people now ask why we changed the buttstock on the P72, fair point. Thatā€™s coz the bushmaster stock isnā€™t being sold anymore and weā€™re not going to invest in tooling for peanuts in India. Would we go to any other stock ? Absolutely yes, since we control the way that any stock will attach to our receiver and can be folded. Now, thatā€™s freedom that my engg team likes for now. But as and when we have several 1000 orders, weā€™ll surely make even furniture in polymer.

I hope they go for Magpul CTR stocks, same as with SiG-716, would bring similarity in atleast something. Iā€™ve heard that these M4 stocks arenā€™t much comfy.

At that point Soviet doctrine had shifted from a 7.62x54R rifle to a 7.62x39mm high-power SMG. Something similar was happening in USA, where troops were preferring .30 Carbine to M1/M14.

But sadly we still had that full powered rifle argument at that time. So there wasn't many options for us except AR-10, FAL and G3.
FAL was better out of those three ...

Britishers still had great influence over us then. Otherwise Aks were already available and even later we complicated the matter with INSAS instead of simply going for the available Aks.

No one critical of not indulging in mass production of furniture but their claims and false marketing.

Just a few post back we saw that. Anyway he is doing more than what we can ... So Kudos for that... And best of luck for all indian companies.

Aks were the best ones among them..There was no need to buy SLRs Sterlings, Mags 58s. Instead we should have gone for Aks, and Pkms. Aks in the hands of a well trained soldier is an absolute beast

They are always ahead of time. Even when army didnt have Aks they had Aks. they switched to M4s when other police commandos were equipping with Aks.
Glocks Masada Berreta all are providing good pistols..

Even our 9mm are good they just need a compact lighter one, grip upgrade rails etc.

If looks can kill.

Don't know much about how it feel on hand but definitely look clean in comparison to tavor etc..

RPK -16 An Ak-12 and RPK derivative is already part of ratnik upgrade.. as lMG.
