Nice documentary on OFTrichy. It has some close-up shots of TAR series of rifles.

Cannot understand the language, but I beleive at around 14:30 the OFT representative admits that TAR is a reverse enginered copy of Bulgarian AK.

I see a massive difference in the attitude of OFT vs OFI. Young enthusiastic employees, high quality indigenous guns, excellent absorption of ToT (Arsenal), well lit and presented.

Compare this to the OFI presentation.

The basic TAR showcased comes with a AK-47 style slant muzzle break.

The FAB accesorized AK comes with a bird cage type muzzle break from AK-74 family.

I wonder how much does this FAB accesorized TAR cost, when compared to AK-203 that we are buying.

Nah, side mounts are actually better for AKs that havent been modified (one of the flaws that got fixed in AK 203). Top cover is not held in securely on either end, so for any reasonable distance sights become unreliable. Side mounts are fixed.

relax it's 1P29 porro-prism design scope, obviously from Russia,
this was originally meant for AK-74M (series) and AN-94 etc, hence it was made with side mount in mind,
since AK-103 is just AK-74M in 7.62x39mm this is most likely also compatible with that one (with some adjustments in reticle, of course),
and that's FAB style railed top cover there, probably issued in case they need to put a western optic on those AK-103s etc...
so yeah he's just using a taller side-mounted Russian 1P29 issued to him here, doesn't mean ">Proceeds to use a Side mounted rail anyway" thing...he could have used western ones as well if required//issued etc...
