So basically we want to depend on Russia and also USA, coz we don't want to depend solely on one power. Makes sense.

But why the heck we never consider not depending on any other power?
You never know, Russia may have brought/honey trapped some bureaucrat or politician or some officer to push for the 203

At one place we are talking about personal benefit(Mx4) and the other being a political benefit for the Nation one might agree or disagree with it.
Now you're being bit delusion
Don't be so naive about the choice of the place to manufacture AK-203.

You have to diversify till you reach self sufficiency

They dont need to do that the Army Chaps already love the AK design and tbh we got the troops happy too and it became part of the political playbook too

Dude, it's all just a large maze leading nowhere.
-> Changes to 7.62 nato for better range and hitting power compared to other ammos like 5.56.
-> Also orders a large amount of ak103 which has bad ballistics compared to 5.56.
-> People saying that soldiers trust ak more and normal engagment is 250m and just fine for that.
-> then nibbar asks why order 7.62 nato.
-> People saying that it's good for mountains and good for longer ranges.
-> nibbar confused and asks people that they said avg engaent range is 250m? Nibbar is totally confused now why sig if for avg range ak 103 is good according to people.
-> nibbar again asks people that why not order more 7.62nato sigs as they are almost the same price as that of ak 103 and future proof for coming times against body armours too. Also border areas are either mountains or deserts making sigs the best choice.
->People saying that it's an ak and it's all that matters. Not having collapsible buttstock is not a problem at all at this price point. According to them Russians are totally NOT milking us at all. People also saying that Ak is ideal for CI/CT ops.
-> Nibbar baafled asks why 7 lakh Aks, around 1.5 lakh Aks will do the job for CI/CT.
-> People saying Ak is Ak and thats the only truth in guns world.
-> Nibbar has been bamboozled. Even after learning everything about reasoning he can't make out where is head or tails of this argument.

As somebody rightly said on strategic front post: delegation to MoD had visited Russia Kalashnikov concern with confirmation and groundwork of AK 103. Kalashnikov tesm convinced them that AK 203 was a better suited rifle than the 103. Then delegation came back and after few months Mr Modi announced that INSAS was getting replaced by AK 203.

Imagine shitty delegation with NIL idea about rifle, ballistics, etc going for riful selection(that too abroad) and coming back being convinced about buying a different riful than intended.
